One thing that i love about these guys [Stray Kids] is that they can all sing & rap really well; some better than others. They work well together to sound like the cohesive unit that they are, and they do that without their company being the main manufacturing force. If you know kpop, than you know what i mean by that. What else i love about them though, is that they are genuine. They definitely use autotune and other tuning methods, but they dont hide it. Bang Chan, the leader and the guy in the big red hat in this video, is also the groups main producer (out of 3racha). He goes into details in several of his live streams on how he tweaks their songs and vocals, breaks down how they use autotune, the differences between autotune and the use of those sound boxes on mics (cant remember the name 😅). Also the differences between live vocals, prerecorded guide tracks, how they use them during live shows. Etc. They do use autotune and they openly like doing so. But i love how they use it in a tasteful way.. it punches when it needs to, but isnt in your face or the whole song. By the way, im not picking your breakdown apart by mentioning all this, i just wanted to mention it since im sure Bang Chan would even appreciate how your ear was able to pick it up so easily. He loves things like that lol. I honestly hope he watches this someday because hes often online, watching reactions 😊

When they were calling out the song writer, he was talking about the one you called out and said you liked, because he wrote the song. They all sing, rap and dance. And every song they've released since 2018 has been written by them and produced by them with help. Three members do most of song production. That's why we love them!

the song writer he referred to was Changbin lol, he's in the group. All their songs are self written and produced!

The members actually write the songs, so Seungmin was complimenting Changbin who wrote the lyrics for this song and helped compose it (along with Bang Chan, the leader of the group, and another composer- be reu sa choi) I hope you'll check out more Stray Kids performances on the first take, especially Slump! :)

Please, check out their live performance of Neverending story. It's one of my fav slower songs of their. Han (main rapper) sings in this song and it's really amazing. A lot of people and artists get surprise of how good of a singer he is since they know him as a killing rapper. Stray Kids are very talented. I don't know if someone have told you but their produce 98% of their music. When Seungmin was complimenting the songwriter at the start, he was talking about Changbin (the rapper you like) since he wrote the song.

Thanks for reacting to stray kids! As others have said, this performance, and several others stray kids have done, are for the very well respected Japanese RU-vid channel called The First Take. There are strict rules for how an artist has to record for this show, and there’s absolutely no post production on it, and every vocal has to be exactly what came out of the artist’s mouth in one take only (hence the entire premise of the channel: The First Take) You might be interested to see the very first stray kids performance on this channel, called Slump, as in that case they did make a stylistic choice to use some sort of effects box on each mic. I love to see your face while reacting, like your eyes are shining. Also, sorry, not trying to say you are wrong or anything,I think is great to teach that yeah, sometimes what we listen is autotune and produced voices, sounds and music and live it's not going to sound like that, buuuut, just trying to let you know that there is no autotune in this video, or at least no post production or heavy editing or anything, even in the last video you made of Case 143, one of the singers made a mistake (he missed some lines) and no one changed it or tried to edit it, that is the whole concept of the channel First Take. No other takes, full live. Of course here might not seem that way since there are many singers on stage and they have to make cuts for you to see each one of them sing, but if you check any other solo artist, you might get the idea. The mics they use, I'm no expert, but other vocal coaches have said that is one of really high quality that makes the voice sound reaaaallly clean and yeah, maybe it has something that makes you sound better or at least not off pitch, but the members actually sing like that, live. Also, the KPop industry is a tiny different in the way they teach how to perform. Kpop artist are mostly performers, the training and facial expressions they are used to make are so different from anything else, also they usually have to dance to every song they create, some bands don't sing live sometimes, Stray Kids do while singing, but they always have a backup track, in this case you can hear there is no such a thing. If you want, maybe sometime ww can recommend you some videos they take on backstage, or streaming live while they are singing, the sound of the camera obviously is not the best, but you can still listen how good they sound, might seem humanly impossible, I know, but they are that good!

Stray kids are actually a self produced and self song writing group.

Changbin(the guy you said you were surprised that he was a good singer since you only know him for his raspy rap) actually started off as a singer and then his vocal coach recommended he try rap because of his voice and he ended up becoming one of the best rappers in kpop I am also a little lost by your last comment of them lipsyncing. I've listened to the studio version of this song, and there are moments where they sound completely different from the live. Also I'm pretty sure they wouldn't allow lipsyncing on first take. Like their might be editing but I don't think there's any lipsync

I'm confused as to how much strain you think is supposed to be on their faces when they are singing a song in their most comfortable range. Especially when they have been training since they were 13-16 on how to sing specifically while keeping their faces looking pretty and are now in their mid-20s. Stray Kids is a group known for their outstanding and stable live vocals that they do in every performance possible while executing some of the hardest choreography in kpop, they have amazing breath/vocal control so standing and singing is comfortable. And even then you can see clearly tension in their faces, necks, and bodies on notes that are out of their comfort zone. And are you seriously accusing this channel of lying about the entire premise of their show? We know there is slight tuning you can clearly hear the echo-y filter but to say that the majority of it is lipsync is ridiculous. We pride ourselves on being a well educated fandom when it comes to music because Stray Kids are always educating us. They're open about when things are lipsynced, what things are autotuned or heavily edited along with showing us the original versions so that we can hear the difference, and regularly sit down to not only explain musical tools and vocabulary but also to make and record songs on live in front of us while explaining their process. We are always willing to learn more from experts but not when it's blatantly wrong.

The writer of the song is the one that you like, he is in a producer unit and a main rapper yet have such s sweet voice

I'm not sure what you mean by saying that the performance is "heavily edited"? And saying that their face/lips looking mellow but what's coming out of their mouths is different. Leaving statements at that and just showing a black screen leaves things a bit unclear, actually. The point of the Japanese YT channel First Take is exactly as what the name means, the invited guests are given just one take to perform their song, be it they forget a lyric, miss a beat, etc. If you're not that familiar with these guys then you must know that this is not the first time that they've performed on the First Take and they've already performed live and went on hundreds of performances so these guys can sing even with a blank face. You should watch other performers on the First Take and see other performances of Stray Kids also before giving out judgment like that.

They compliment the song writer because the song writer is also one of them his name is Changbin the one you said your favorite with the help of Bangchan their leader and also 90% of their music is written and produce by them mostly the producing members called 3racha (Chan, Changbin and Han) but the others have help too and the 10% with the help of other producers but their discography mostly includes 3racha on it. I would also like to point out that they are not singing on their native language they are singing in Japanese which I think making it even harder. Also can you please elaborate on the last part where you said it was heavily edited? cause First take claims this was recorded First take and no edit happens after they perform maybe there were autotune during the performance which I get but you said it like it was lip synced cause you said they matched the lip with the song?? I took this one from the billboard article it says "The concept is simple: artists sing into a lone microphone in a white studio. The performance is taken in a single take. There are no retakes, even if the artist makes a mistake or an accident occurs. THE FIRST TAKE preserves a moment in time, in which artists give their all to their music under the pressure of the single take" This was the 1st time I heard someone said that the voice was edited. No hate I am just genuinely curious.

I'm 11 months late but i do suggest you watch their live performance that is done with heavy dancing. There's backtrack but I'm sure s you can differentiate live vocal and bactrack by ear. i like the reaction but maybe i would do some research before making some statements. som parts being highly edited, would not work because this is the first take. this japanese shows doesnt allow 'high editing' it is very specific in what equipment is allowed for the live performance, because that is literally what the concept of the show is about. Yes, there are pitch perfecter and stuff but no editing, especially not post show. have you seen other performances or bands on the first take? there have been quite some missed notes in some of those performances, which is fine, because again, it is the concept of the show, but 'heavily edited' would probably not be the phrase i would use. I work in music production aswell, and i know what you mean but this is not it. and their faces looking 'mellow' when belting some sounds... i mean.... come on, korean artists are used to performing and singing while doing high energy performances. (yes, of course, they have backing track on in those performances) but i think they have quite good control of their breathing and techniques. apparently neither me nor the hundred other vocal coaches who reacted to first take performances have ever noticed how heavily edited it is and how the whole program is cheating us lol thanks for letting us know

I am a big STAY and at the same time a musician. Yes they definitely fixed the pitch, also through out the year all of the members improved their vocal skills, especially Lee Know. The liveliness in his voice is crazily inspiring. Also Han and Changbin, the two main rappers, they have the top vocal abilities in the group toooooooo.

Plz react to their stages from kingdom. They have live singing and u can also see the performer side of stray kids which is one of their insane strengths I recommend "I'll be your man" for a vocal heavy performance

Great, now i have to type a lot. 😔 First off, SKZ are one of the only groups who are always homest with their fans about what they do and do not do, how they do it, and why. So we feel no need to defend them on anything, as long as its true. However, although it appears many of the commentora are new fans, us older ones will be haopy to relay the actual facts, as well as what we have been told by the artists themselves, whom are also the songwriters, composers, producers, and even arrangers... fyi. First of all, they don't even have the vocal mixers in there on this performance, and that is all that the First Take will allow them to use. After all, the First Take is a Japanese show, and they require complete transparency when it comes to what is and isn't being done. A voice mixer and a condenser mic would have been used if they sere using an effect. Because they can't have any post done on their performance. Also, even if they were, its not "autotune. "... You should know that is an awful program. Lol, when it comes to professional recording, you do not want to sound like a robot. Ask JYP, he knows. Lol SkZ has used a vocal effect in this show before, but not this time. Obviously, other commentors, knowing that SKZ do sometimes like to use ecfects, don't want to be rude or perhaps say something that they don't know about for sure. You maybe should have at least done the fsct checking before posting your video. As this could have easily been avoided just by looking at the shows rules or reading a couple of articals on the studio they were at. Sometning. The lack of any equipment to make such an effect present in the video is also a dead giveaway when you have no post, also, theres truly no way that one could call what SKZ always use exceot in very obvious and in your face situations, as "autotune". This was not one of those times. I have heard these boys sing live countless times, this is what they sound like in a well recorded and professional setting whilst not dancing. Simple as that. Lol speaking of... How would they lip sync on a show that demands that you sing live, its recorded in one take, and then it goes out with absolutely zero editing? Japan is VERY much against lipsync and any non-stylistic tuning. As are SkZ. So, again.... They do not use any of the equipment for vocal tuning or vocal mixing to correct vocals, as they need to be able to perform it live just the same. If they do use autotune, it is INCREDIBLY obvious both in the recording and on stage, since they don't care if you know, because they aren't using anything to correct their vocals. They are using it to create an almost robotic sounding voice for performances and to play with it on stage too, being silly. lmao ... As for lip syncing, of course, that is a company or artists choice, and not a bad thing. However, SKZ refuse to lipsync, even on stages where everyone else is asked to and does, they still demand their mics be hot. Snd that is not defense that is straight from them. They hate it. They feel useless, so instead, those stages dmd up as a performance with a loud backtrack. We were also informed that the only times they have ever actually ldine a performance without a live mic are times when they literally have no choice thanks to elements. Like when they were performing on a helicopter pad on a terrifyingly tall building, in immense wind. You seem like a nice fun person, but in this one, im afraid you are far off. So, in short, im sorry... but not only did they not lipsync and therefore "do a great job matching their lips to the song" (seriously, who warms up just to lipsync) and they obviously do not have the equipment needed for them to even do any effects hooked up to their mics and present for their performance. Aka, a mixer, they would have had a mixer, and that still wouldn't have been Auto tune, only mixed vocals. Again, The First Take not only a Japanese program that is highly against editing and vocal effects that aren't stylistic, but they have even been proven to be lagit several times over. I don't know why you assume these things, but i promise they aren't occurring in this performance. So please be careful of what you say, not because of fans or anything, specially with us STAY as we know the facts already, not to mention our idols' real voices. But because it's not right to spread misinformation about a group that people love to use slight misinformation on, to start massive hate. And then they will use your video as the reason why they did it, when they inevitably get called out. It wouldn't be the first time.😮

Also we have to remember that both of times she has reacted them - they are singing in Japanese, not their native languages. -Two of the members native language is English, and not Korean. As ARMY and not STAY ( SKZ are awesome! I just don't have time for two fandoms :=( ) myself I'm not sure how fluent any of them are in Japanese - but I know many Koreans learn it often as a second foreign language. And as a multilingual myself I also know something about singing in different languages, It is not always as difficult as some people think it is. Like I'm last person who is a singer, but I have sang in different languages, and even learned languages with help of music - of course using _only_ poetic song lyrics to learn language is not the smartest. What I feel is difficult, is how they can make songs in other languages, when I can't even write a poem in English - my second foreign language.. And strongest of my foreign languages. Incredible, they are really good, and I wish from all my heart SKZ gets way up there, where they belong with their skills.
