I had a tiger mom and boy was she strict. She passed away back in 2003 when i was 12 years old. Even though she was strict af, looking back now it made me the person i am today. I'm really grateful for that.
My mum was quite similar to your mum. She didn't hit us nor pressured us to study...but she really controlled our freedom a lot. Sleepovers: Ask your friends to come and sleep in our house instead! Going out on weekends: Why do you go out every weekend!? You already went out last weekend! Project work at my classmate's home: Calls and picks me up after 1-2 hours even though we were not done.
Your mom is just the cutest. My mom was a complete tiger mom. She made me kneel at her bedside to recite the multiplication table when I was 5. I couldn’t sleep until I got them all correct. All it did was put a strain on our relationship.
My mother criticises me for everything. She always says my handwriting is ugly. Now I have an OCD with neat handwriting because I wanted to impress her in the past. No kids should ever be forced to do something to impress their parents.

If I did this quiz with my mom, she would just yell at me telling me how ungrateful i am and i should appreciate everything she‘s done for me (which i do, don‘t get me wrong). but she just doesn‘t see that this isn‘t the right way to raise your children

I can confirm..things change when you have your own child lol when i was growing up, my curfew was 10pm and i thought that was sooo unfair cuz my friends get to stay out as late as they want..now that i have a baby of my own..i've already told her (she's not even 1) that she's coming home right when it gets dark! LoL 😂
You are lucky having a non tiger mom. I was not allowed to go out for movies with schoolmates even I was 18. My mom would hang up the phone if this was a male schoolmate.
you should be greatful that she put so much effort and resources on you, not many mum can do that, when you get older you will know what I am saying. ps my mum is tiger mun and I hate her when I was kid, but now you know she is the one who actually care you and support you no matter what.
Feel better because my mom also denied my sleepover or even my fd sleeping / playing even during daytime at my home. So sad but that was the past. Now i’ve got used to not sharing my personal space like home with my fds (only ok with the closest ones😜😜) ! Good to keep children safe so....it’s hard to say abt parenting. I don't think she was strict at all. She's a very well balanced Westernised Chinese mum. She's very similar to my mum. She's relaxed until the rules are broken.
