吉原駅（静岡県富士市）から岳南江尾駅（静岡県富士市）までの9.2kmを結ぶ岳南電車岳南鉄道線。近年では富士山の雄大な景色や、日本夜景遺産にも認定された夜景などを求めて、外国人観光客も多く訪れるようになりました。岳南江尾駅や岳南富士岡駅には、全国でも希少となった電鈴式踏切が使用されており、ノスタルジックな鉄道風景も魅力です。しかしながら、経営の中核をなしていた貨物輸送は2012年3月16日にて廃止され、旅客輸送は最盛期の5分の1未満にまで落ち込むなど厳しい経営状況が続いています。今回は富士山南麓で奮闘する地方私鉄、岳南電車岳南鉄道線を行き交う列車を7本撮影してきました。
The Gakunan Electric Train Gakunan Railway Line runs 9.2km from Yoshiwara Station (Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture) to Gakunan-Enoo Station (Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture). In recent years, many foreign tourists have been visiting the line in search of the magnificent scenery of Mt. Fuji and the night view that has been recognized as a Japanese Night View Heritage. Gakunan-Enoo Station and Gakunan-Fujioka Station use electric bell-type railroad crossings, which are rare in Japan, and the nostalgic railway scenery is also attractive. However, freight transportation, which was the core of the company's business, was discontinued on March 16, 2012, and passenger transportation has fallen to less than one-fifth of its peak, and the company continues to face a difficult business situation. This time, I took 7 trains passing on the Gakunan Electric Railway Gakunan Railway Line, a local private railway that is struggling at the southern foot of Mt. Fuji.
