I have learned this form of Kung Fu for about a year or so. I can not help but notice the sound of his feet made when he stomp on the solid concrete, it sounds so solid! It must have taken him at least 20 years of basic training and conditioning. The transfer of the power to the whole body is pretty subtle. When I was taught this, I was reminded again and again, the objective of this exercise is to kill an overpowering object, whether it's an animal or human, instantly.
@nitojo7 Hmmm well. Reading something somewhere is nice. However my experience with both styles of Xingyi are that 5 Element is the younger of the Xingyi styles. Xingyi Lui He Quan does not have the same shapes as 5 Element Xingyi at all. And I am not talking about just the names. I am actually talking about the physics and structure of the shapes.
@nitojo7 Yes I recognize Henan style Xingyi. I started learning it 5yrs ago. My understanding is that 5 Element and 6 Harmony do shared a common foundation of movement skill but do not have that much in common. Henan style has 10 animals, 5 Element 12 animals, 6 harmony does not have the linking fist but animals shapes instead and the qigong for each is every different too form my experience. Just my opinion. :))
Thats exactly what I was saying. The form and structure is different. Having the 3 stepping techniques and the 5 bodies in common does not mean the styles are the same or that 5 element is the same as 6 Harmony Xingyi. You cannot change what I have personally experienced.
