I was in Sasebo in April 1969. The people of the city were the kindest and friendliest people that I ever met in my 10 years in the US Navy. I am sure most are gone now, but I hope they had good and happy lives. I missed them through the years but never could afford to get back there. I loved that place.
I was bourne in June 1961 in Sasebo, both my parents were working at the Ship Repaire Department, CFAS at that time. I also have been working for the Supply and Fiscal Dept., CFAS since June 1985 till now. I've already reached 62 years old...... It's been gradually changing but some of old buildings are in use still the same. I think Sasebo is the most safest harbor in the whole world now you can see "the peace" throuh it. Every year you can enjoy full bloomed Cherry blossoms standing next to the brick warehouses to ensure the peace of Sasebo😊.
