Although Han is the largest ethnic group in China, Manchu, Miao(Hmong), Zhuang, Mongols, Uygers, Tibetans ... are all Chinese, We love and protect each other, enjoy each other's culture, we are very lucky to be Chinese, have so many bueatiful cultures in the world, we will not only keep those culture but also develop them forever. I hate western medias always want to seperate us, I am a Han Chinese moved to America, I have many Miao, tibetan friends in China and missed them so much.

The language of this song is Mandarin, which is the national language of China. Miao are bilinguals, They speak both Miao(Hmong) language and Mandarin. Normally, they speak Miao language with their own ethnic people, they speak Mandarin with other Chinese people. Mandarin official language of China, just like English is official language of USA.

We all have similar trades no matter how other people called us but yet you guys argue about who is Hmong or Miao or Mong etc...We Hmong are all over the world and in different country we were called differently but we as "HMONG" know who we really are. Chinese stands for a citizenship of China, where many different ethnic groups lived for thousands of years. In the history, many wars occurred between those groups, no matter who win the war, form the government, they are all Chinese, they still live together in the same land.

Life for the Hmong/Miao has changed more favorable to the Hmongs. The new generation of Han are not that of the old bunch. The new generation can not be hated for what their forefathers did. tiezi00, you have to bear in mind what Han forefathers did, from 2700 B.C. to recent 1980 Miao endured extreme hardship.

First, you should appreciate the land where you live now, the America, which give you a home, you should be proud to be a American just like being proud as a Hmong. Second, Miao is NOT a bad word in Chinese, "Miao" means fresh plant sprout, "Miao" is a very good word in Chinese Dictionary. "Miao" people in China is very repected, both Song Zuying and Ayouduo are famous Chinese stars and are paliament members in central government.They have concert cross the world and represent Chinese culture.

I understand, but I'm talking as in specific race. I'm not talking about Hawaii and America. If you go to South of China, they still do Hmong New Year and Miao still wear clothes like Hmong. So I don't know if you consider Hmong as your culture as well since Miao and Hmong are the same. No matter where hmong live they still have the same tradition. Miao, or Hmong as you stated are not Chinese. They are very different in culture, language, and many other ways. Miao were chased out of there homeland 5,000 years ago. Our ancient leader was Chiyou, or Txiv Yawg(Father Grandfather). The Miao people fought back but lost and was forced to speak Cantonese or whatever. They refused to give in to Chinese rule and fled there homeland. They fled south through vietnamese and into laos. During there migrations, they divided into serperate groups.

Miao was not a derogatory term until the Yuan and Ming Dynasty. In ancient times it just meant descendant. It was not used again until the Yuan Dynasty when Southwest China was brought into the Empire

All Hmong are pretty, doesn't matter where they live. It depend on where you meet them. The reason they marry Hmong Laos is because most of the Hmong in the States are from Laos. Communication is easier.

Eventually, over thousands of years, the dialect changed enough that you may not understand them. Does that make them less Hmong? They could be saying you're the one who changed. American English has changed from the UK's version. Her name is A You Duo. Look her up. All Hmong have a similar type of clothing, and musical instruments

@visvwj Some Americans say they can't understand British accent and language. Think about it. It's only been a few hundred years since the divergence of Americans from Britain. When you have thousands of years separating you and the original Hmong people living in souther China, and with no telecommunications or TV to watch and learn, how do you think language can change? have you guys ever thought of going through your hmong roots? If you go far enough back the hmong name is just a blurr. Keeping in mind there was never hmong people to start with and the name miao was name by the chinese. we was some mountain people and the chinese call us miao we was chase and kill for our land so to protect ourself we changed miao to hmong using our own language and during all those years of chaos we lost our identity as miao people and took the name hmong and ran off to laos.

"Miao' or 'Hmong"? Although the term 'Miao" appeared in Chinese historical records, the term 'Hmong' never did. What did they call themselves back then, "Hmong or 'Miao?'. The answer to this question varied from region to region. For example, the western Hunan Hmong call themselves "Guo-xiong". Those in eastern Guizhou call themselves "Amaot" or "Mo'. And those in Yunnan and southeastern Sichuan call themselves 'Meng" or "Hmong".

The principle of Hmong people called themselves "Hmong" mean free man. Us Hmong don't like to involve within any political level individually or within a group up to the 1960. Hmong prefer living freely that's why we seen what we seen today, while the villages or town get larger, Hmong people move to elsewhere that none political movement.

The definition of Chinese include 56 ethnic groups, Miao is one of them, we have 9 million Miao people in China, there are only 400,000 Hmong is outside of China, they live in Laos or USA. China does not belong to Han Chinese, it belong to all 56 ethincs. Han itself has many different culture and different languages in different provinces. It doesn't has to be seperated to different countries, if every ethnic has its own country, then there would be over 6000 countries in the world, rediculous.

Now the Chinese goverment is formed by 56 ethnic groups. So Miao is definitely Chinese. Although Communist is the dominate party in the government, there are some other parties too. All the political parties including Communist are formed by 56 ethnic groups which we call them all Chinese. Miao is one of them, Ayouduo and Song Zuying are all parliement members and servied PLA before.

Please, do not turture me any more...Ready to marry all of them They are so beautiful and sweet. Including Ayouduo ...of course. Really, I love very much Miao/Hmong culture even I have never been in Miao land. I am from the Aztec land. Make sure you keep your traditions...thank you.
