My late grandparents hailed from Guangdong Province in China. But all 10 of their children were born here. We still have relatives in China. My Father and his siblings love going to visit them. I don't understand why they feel so connected to China when they are born and bred here, like I am. And they were only able to fly and visit them during these last 20 years after we grew up and started working. I mean I know that my ancestors came from China but I'm Singaporean. I don't have any good nor bad feelings towards China. My life is here in Singapore. So please respect that, just like we respect everyone who visit our country.
I'm a true blue Singaporean. In our multiracial country, we might describe ourselves as Chinese Singaporean, Malay Singaporean, or Indian Singaporean, but the emphasis is always on being Singaporean, with the ethnic adjective (eg. "Chinese" Singaporean) merely describing the race-based subgroup of each Singaporean. Most of the time, we just identify as Singaporeans, as that's precisely who we are, our nationality. My allegiance lies solely with my beloved country, Singapore. To me, China is simply another foreign country, and its citizens are thus, foreigners.
Thank you 🙏 🙇🏻♀️。 As China Chinese they are proud of them as Chinese. We Singaporean we are also proud to be Singaporean Chinese. Those that miss took us. Remember we are Singaporean! We are 4 races, not only Chinese.
Yes, I felt offended when PRC claimed tat we Singaporean Chinese are Tong Zhi, sorry, i m not ur Tong Zhi....if you trace back the China's billion of years of history, China doesn't start with communist occupation in the 1st place.... I love my ancestry roots, but not the current communist culture.... During the Mao era, they had totally destroyed the chinese culture during the culture revolution..... Ask why lots of Chinese outside of China are so repulsive of PRC? Even Hong Kong citizens? We are democratic countries, but PRC r communist....look at what Hong Kong has slowly becoming more n more under the communist regime The mindset is very different, look at Russia, North Korea, China etc....we just dun like to b identify as under a communist regime....our forefathers, ancestors have fought too hard to escape the grips of the communist regime .... The CCP is very greedy....after Hong Kong, they want Taiwan, I heard from my China students tat back in China, their school textbooks did state that Singapore is part of China....because Zhen He did landed here🤦♀️ Apparently the CCP is very good at brainwashing their citizens mind.....even world history can change according to their benefits....🤦♀️
What wrong with CCP? The last 50 year they make china great! Without current CCP u think china people have chances to migrate here. They will be like our ancestors come here as cooli. Our ancestors never want to migrate here, they accidentally become citizens because 1965 a country call Singapore was born. We Singaporeans must learn to respect different cultures, and system too, be it communist or democracy! When my grandparents come here there no cCP or PRC only ROC.
@@1965Singaporean Communism is not a culture but a political system. At a point of time it is this same system that destroyed many traditional Chinese culture, arts and heritage. In fact overseas Chinese people retained much of the things communism destroyed and it is only until recent decades that they start to refind their lost heritage.
Hi jame , i have to thank you for making this video As a singaporea we dont have any issue or problem with china people We welcome all nationality and we respect every body . hopefully china chinese can understand your perspective in this video
The majority of us may be Chinese by descent, but we are too far removed from most of our ancestors who came from mainland China. However, there are also Malays, Indians and other ethnic groups among our brethren in Singapore. Do not forsake them or forget that they exist. They are equally important. Do not diminish our national identity.
There are so many PRC Chinese in PRC. Please take good care of the weak, poor and old in PRC instead of keep wasting time, repeat asking so many foreigners so many weird and rude questions? Why are we interested to know where your ancestors from? And why are you interested to know where my ancestors are from? Why keep asking so many questions when we are not even close? Also, why keep asking how much we earn, how much our cars costs, our apartments cost how much etc?
Many Chinese nationals cannot tell the difference between race and nationality. We are Han Chinese, and we are Singaporeans. Cannot fathom? Think about it many Chinese nationals are non Han race!!! Race and nationality are different.
@@1965Singaporean How is looking down on China related to looking down on our own ancestors? Instead of seeing a cup half empty, maybe from another angle is that we ethnic Chinese have nothing to look up to current China.
WTF , he don't even want to go to Hakka village in China. His great grandfather home town. You think LKY like communist country China ? He order communist to go to jail in 1960s
