Must be another smart alec Taiwanese again. They are super 自以为是, simple minded and think only Taiwan 好棒棒. Other country is way beneath them. They think they knew Singapore very well, way above local Singaporean knew about our own country. A really irritating nation
it really depends on what degree of injury and harm done to the victim . and is a foreigner from other country. if need to be deported from Singapore and reject entry to singapore in the future . we won't keep them in the prison for too long if i am not wrong
When a person commits a crime in Singapore, apart from serving a sentence of imprisonment, paying a fine, or other punishments, the person will also be subject to a criminal record. Under the Registration of Criminals Act, a person’s record is automatically rendered spent if they do not commit new offenses within five years. Once a person has a criminal background, it will impact his/her future and take time for society to accept them. For instance, employers have the right to check the background when he/she is finding a job. All in all, it means someone have to pay a price for it.
This lady in Boat Quay area who assaulted the security and the police will have a police + jail record in her immigration file. Permanent Residency when due for renewal, these records will be reviewed accordingly. Thus this lady might lose her PR status in the coming months/years. If this was a local, he / she will surely lose his/her job and will have problem finding the next one when the prospective employer run a check. Losing one freedom in a holding cell will have driven anyone crazy regardless how developed the country is. Without causing GRIEF injury to any parties during the arrest, I think she has a fair sentence of 12 weeks.
There are several points to note. We are paying them free lodging and food and personal protection in prison. 😀 If she is a foreigner, it is better to deport them as soon as possible. In Spore, education of prisoners is also a big thing to return them to society. But, I am not privy to what the authorities really think.
