Same as HK people and children every weekend and public holidays go to Shenzhen for fun and same as Macau also go to Zhuhai for fun like HK and our Singaporean to JB does it.
The grass is always greener on the other side. Home is where the heart is. 😅
I agree with the uncles and aunties. Singapore is safe and water is clean. The food standard is also better than Malaysia. Retire in Singapore is better.
Singapore is not expensive to retire. Assuming by the time you choose to retire, you have no housing loan, you don’t own car, your children are young adult and working no longer depend on you. You are only responsible for annual property tax for your home, mthly utility bills, town council mthly conservancy, 3 meals a day, chronic illness medication (government provide schemes and policies to cushion the cost). Wet & dry groceries where there is government occasional handout and ntuc fairprice offer discount to elderly. When we are old, we want a safe, stable, secure environment and excellent medical health care system. Singapore is able to provide that. Singapore is truly my home!
Ringgit will strengthen with economic growth, SEZ and SFZ will bring in fdi and people will flock there to work in Johor or Singapore but illegal immigrants will still be prevalent, in the end JB will end up somehow like Singapore, assets prices will rise which means things will no longer stay cheap for the locals or tourists.
Malaysia is cheap because Sing dollar is strong. If S$1 = M$1, you will find Malaysia standard of living high too. So, need to appreciate our strong currency.
good? did you not see the news recently? PRC stealing from plane, stealing from residential, corruption/laundering etc. local politicians corruptions?prc chopper spat, yishun killer neighbour spat etc...
@@liweiquek7382 is not a matter or "strong" or "weak", if interest rates are so high ( such as in SG) , you will see houses being sold at record prices, this is why Sinkies cannot take the mortgage stress anymore
Is not correct to say 30% of Singaporeans intend to retire in Malaysia. Because those 30% can say is vast majority are 马来西亚华人 that last time migrated to Singapore from Malaysia and many of these 马来西亚华人their feelings for Malaysia are still stronger than their feelings for Singapore and many of them hope to return to Malaysia when they are old. Because according to the Pew Research Survey conducted on Singaporeans in year 2021, there are 1 million malaysians that converted to Singaporean citizens. And is common sense that can say more than 95% of these 1 million malaysians new citizens are 马来西亚华人 because why would a malaysian-malay convert to Singapore citizenship? I last time work housing agent and from my interaction with those 马来西亚华人移民, most of them are still very biased towards Malaysia and many of them say they intend to go back to Malaysia to retire when they are old.
When you are old, what do you need the most? Medical, how to retire overseas if this is not fulfill. So think of medical first and not others which you need the most when you are getting older. If the country you are retiring, have good and affordable medical, good :) ... or else dun be stupid and come back to Singapore again just to seek medical help... doesn't make sense.
Those who want to retire elsewhere usually hanker for a landed property or a condo and a big brand car which is their dream and not within reach to them in singapore. some say they want a slower pace of life. when u r retired, your pace of life will naturally slow down, no matter how busy the city you are living is. If you are not materialistic, singapore is not an expensive place for many to retire in.
For those who can’t retire in Singapore with no saving, do u think u can afford to retire in Malaysia? It’s about how u manage your money when u are young..For those who worked in Singapore and save enough to retire and thinks that Singapore living cost is too high and malaysia is way lower, pls remember that Singapore gave u the platform to earn what you have now. Appreciate it and don’t complain.

我 made in Malaysia, assembled in Singapore, exports to Indonesia.
My wife still worry going to malaysia as she was encounter snatch thieves in KL .Once you reported about the crimes , the officer said that we need to wait till 5 hours to lodge a report .By then we left the police station in disappointed...
Which country in this world 100 percent safe and perfect Lets be honest and do not have biased outlook on others If feel unsafe, dont venture out and stay put where you are😅
I lived in JB for a short period and still prefers to retire in Singapore. You can solo walk anywhere for hours. Eat the best food at hawker centres and find a quiet spot in a garden to relax.
