So I was again looking at my instagram feed and I frequently get these photos of a camera shop and when I was looking at it, started researching about this particular shop I realized it was in Akihabara which was not under my radar...sigh and I actually visited (when going out to buy pc parts in Akihabara)
and fortunately I was able to meet with the owner who was really kind and gave me the permission to shoot video within the store and also give you guys the more detailed explanation of the shop.
it is located 10min walk away from Akihabara Stn (same distance from Yodobashi Camera)
the shop specializes in point and shoots ccd but also sells many film cameras 35mm and some medium format camera I was surprised they had 3 (i said 2) GW690 III can you believe it...scrubs my eyes...im dreaming maybe
hopefully I made a dedication to my fellow subs and if your ever in Tokyo I would highly suggest visiting since its a great location to look for film cameras and lots of point and shoots that are available.
not to mention I wasnt able to shoot the junk corner (shop )right beside the main shop since they were kinda under construction. so if your interested you can visit that area too

Very cool Ryo! Can you do a Tokyo film store highlights? Tokyo has so many cool nooks and crannies plus Japan is one of the most photography friendly countries on the planet.

Appreciate these camera shop visits, I'll be visiting Tokyo in late November and really want dedicate a carry on for bringing back mint vintage cameras for shooting. From what the consensus says, cameras in Japanese shops aren't cheaper than what I can find here in the US (eBay), but being able to see/hold cameras before buying, knowing they're in great condition, and just the experience of shopping in person, I'd say, is half the fun. Are there any "must visit" shops you'd recommend? I'm interested in picking up a rangefinder (not m6) and a medium format camera while I'm there (maybe the gw690!)

Yup the price might be cheaper on ebay but the great thing about here is you can try them out unfortunate this year alone I only saw GW690 within this shop only...so it's actually rare to see one in Tokyo...this one and Lemon Sha obviously if you come to Shinjuku it will probably fullfulill your camera needs

I'm always a bit jealous of Japanese camera shops... if only we had places half as good near Montreal (Canada). BTW, I find it funny that you pronounce Nikon the American way (N-eye-kon) and not the more Japanese way (Ni-kon) 😊

Thanks for commenting : 🐱 Although this channel is originally me shooting with film cameras I realized over the course of the years that the processing and scanning takes quite a long time so in order to fill the gap I started looking up on film camera shops around Tokyo since it's easier to make contents on and while at it scanning at home. I'm glad ppl give me the opportunity to shoot videos within stores the negotiating is kinda hectic but it's worth it. Oh Montreal I actually traveled there when I studied in Ottawa (Carleton U) I rmb I couldn't understand French 😂 and had a hard time but the ppl their were really nice when I was lost. Nikon I should of said the Japanese way

The shop looks really refreshed when I visited for the first time it's clean air conditioned a paradise for ppl who love cameras both film and digital. Great location unfortunately I live kinda far away so I can't visit much but a one stop location if your ever traveling :)

at 2:12, is that an MMJ 28 2.8? Can't read the details but that price is interesting. I might go there.

I can't confirm since I was scanning too many cameras and my head was about to explode but rechecking the footage it looks like an mmj 28mm might be great opportunity to grab one if it is a 28mm 2.8 :)

What a gem of a video! I hope I'll have the opportunity to visit Japan one day to wall around and pop into these vintage camera shops. I wonder how many of the “junk” cameras in that other shop are actually operational. Because, I’ve been purchasing vintage cameras on Yahoo Actions for a couple of years, and of those labeled as “junk", like 70% are actually in good working order.

@RM.TokyoPhotographer Месяц назад
I have no experience with junk camera unfortunately since I can't fix cameras but I'm guessing since it's Japan the quality might be higher than usual :) u have to check with your own eyes since everyone has their own opinion wishing you that one day you will visit the camera shops in Tokyo :)
