Aimi brings about a lot of strong feelings in people but she's very personally relatable to me. A cautionary tale of how bad things can get. What a shocker, her theme is also one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite in the entire game. I could (and have) listened to it for so long...
straight girl standing …the song is really complex and has a lot of different parts, but somehow they all mingle together quite cohesively. a solid final boss theme 📏🧍♀️
It's one of those "this game got me through depression"-ish stuffs, feel free to read past: This game, specifically Aimi helped me get over the frustration I had. I saw a dark reflection of myself in her. I wanted to get everyone in Japan to remember and play D&D so that maybe everyone in my vicinity could play it. I even blamed Japanese society not allowing enough time for anything. I had no power to do anything big to do so, but if I had one, I would've became just like Aimi.
Honestly, Aimi brought to me a lot to think. Like, "couldn't my good intentions actually be clouded by my desires?" Or "Should I really aim for something greater, or should I conform to normality?" And most importantly "I want to help... then why am I hurting" I haven't had the need to think those things myself, since I've had a pretty good life, but still. I'm on Aimi's team, she at the end was aiming for the best reality possible, even if she failed. The only argument of the protagonists' side that I buy is the "That zone became more dangerous, not safer!" , which was a pretty high mistake. But regardless, I think Aimi could've been capable of fixing said mistakes and make reality better in the end, even if at of sacrifices had to be made. As long as those sacrifices don't end with the life of anyone, I'd take 'em.
And that’s what makes this game interesting: the ambiguity of the main antagonist, a girl who changed the entire world, rewrote people’s memories and essentially became a god. Aimi has done nothing bad, yet it all seems so wrong. The fact that she’s been greatly influenced by her emotions, which could make her selfish and morally wrong, turns into a strenght when she decides to change reality for everyone. Yet she erased people’s memories. She modified Gensokyo to fit her interests. As wonderful as it might be, is it right? What about the Gensokyo everyone once knew, then? In the end, nobody’s wrong... But Gensokyo can’t be changed like this, especially if nobody knows it.
It's odd. By my usual standards of judging music, I would think that it's monotonous and one-dimensioned, since the main melody and counter-melody rarely change, and seem to even repeat at a constant interval. Even the chord progression rarely changes throughout the theme. Yet, I keep coming back to listen to it in the game's music menu, and the theme still kept me on my toes as a final boss-ish in-game. Thinking of it, it's probably 2 things. Firstly, the instruments choice is brilliant. That's the thing that almost always changes with every iteration of the main idea, keeping things fresh and interesting. The contrast between the brilliant sounds of some instruments like chimes, against the rather subdued strings also made the theme sound wide and enveloping. Secondly, this theme tugged at my heartstrings. There's this very strong sense of sorrow interwoven in it, laced with desperation and hope to change that sorrow, only for everything to repeat itself again with the overbearing sorrow. It hurts to listen for long, but I'm a sucker for songs that has sadness yet hopeful feel to it
back when the newer demo was released i thought "the character in the cover art has to be the extra boss XD" and now after the full version of dlw released i was like "oh ok 🥲"
The intro really sounds like "Levitating", which feels weird every time. There are some sections that are kind of iffy for me, but then the chords in the main chorus bits feel very jazzy, which makes it more exciting and unique.
2 years anniversary of DLW. Have loved this song for 2 years at this point. Best final boss theme ever, the longest boss theme in any Touhou fangame that has ever existed. Aimi is truly a revolutionary boss in more ways than one. oh and the pink thing is literally me fr fr nowadays so that's fucking hilarious

Batshit insane power that basically fucks everything up, creating the most ridiculously convoluted and concerning incident to the point it surpassed even the things like LoLK, for absolutely dumb reasons, all the while being just a mere human. Even funnier, while most incidents in fangames are just mythologies redux with the incident master being a modern reskin of some ancient goddess or something, Aimi is just...a fucking human. Somehow they made a random human being capable of doing things that far exceeds literal gods, which fits the theme of imagination and humankind's reality or some stuffs very well ngl
The recurring motif in the bass line (e.g. 1:24) sounds so classical to me. Is it inspired from something? I think this track is paced very well with the fight.
this is all rikuto's fault, maybe. but she can't just get others caught up in her own whims because of someone else's wrong against her. it would have been better if she held rikuto accountable for what he'd done and cultivate her own beautiful life out of spite, regardless of rikuto's presence or not. rikuto doesn't deserve you anymore, aimi!!! but good story though. it shows how anyone ordinary inside (or even outside) gensokyo can cause such a ruckus with the right tools and knowledge-such is the essence of gensokyo. it's often said that one should change what one can change and accept what one cannot, but this is gensokyo, and you could have one girl who could just say: f that, I will change (almost) everything!
one shouldn't have to put so much hope into one person only for it to dissolve if they can't meet the expectations. hopefully, the new friends she's made can create a better existence for her and her saw. she can enjoy life without him.
Other than the last spell (in both L and O) and the 3rd spell (O only) the rest is pretty much attainable. For the 5th stage, only need to be careful about the 2nd last spell at O difficulty.
