An extraordinary cut and great skill! Your technique is more effective than the tameshigiri practitioners. Can you help us understand why you are effective and they are not?

several reasons. I actually research these topics in scientific way, not being restricted by "tradition" or "doctrine". I don't need to follow the framework laid down by the school head, who change the framework whenever he feels pleased. In fact, most if not all these practitioners do not understand what is blade alignment, and just "monkey see monkey do" their way. Also, I designed the sword I was using, and I know what makes a good cutting geometry. In addition, I did the sharpening myself. Plus, I know tatami's weakness in the direction of the grains. Combining all these factors, you will see why I cut 5 rolls so easily with plenty power left while they struggled so hard.

having to compare yourself to other people to prove your skill is a strange look not sure it looks good

Guess you are not into scientific research of which methods produce better result. I watch a lot of sharpening method compare for example. There are definitely some better ways than the others, some are meaningless in the result, and some are plainly wrong. You can enjoy staying on your own course and not comparing with others at all, be content and happy with yourself. It's your own choice.

i’ve seen clips of this same competition and guys are cutting clean through them as well this video would have more scientific merit if you were physically walking your audience through the various aspects of what you are doing to achieve your results rather than a 3 second clip of you performing it. it just came across very strange from a viewer stand point is all i watched some of the other content on your page and its cool! you have a ton of amazing sparring content and cutting videos so this one just confused me. i hope you have a good day!

@@TONEDEAFSOUND Please provide the same competition's full clip then. this is the full clip I got already, from this particular match, from a Taiwan participant's youtube account. This is the latest match just took place not long ago.

@@TONEDEAFSOUND There were many skills involved and those were not going to be free to share. From sword design, edge geometry, sharpening, to powering mechanism, blade alignment practice, and how to take advantage of tatami's vertical grain... I'm not someone who like to teach for free. :)
