I always listen to this song mama whenever I feel down and miss papa 😭. at night when i lay in my bed exhausted from my duties, I always play this song, I felt like papa is listening with me. I hope we can sing this song again with him like when he is still with us. 😢
My papa passed last week. This was one of the songs that was requested by my mom for the band to play during the cremation day because it’s one of the songs he liked… was crying like shit when they played all his fav songs. The band was good and the singer was great.. which makes it sound even better and soulful.
I understand that this song is so popular in Taiwan that it almost became the National song. Its quite meaningful. You have to strive hard in order to achieve your goal.30% is fate and 70 % is dedication in all your endeavor, rely true. Its sung everywhere everyday.

I learned this song from my Taiwanese History and Culture class last Saturday, and It's like Oasis to my Music Drought month in October and November. Also, it's a busy period where all the students are dying from assessments/exams and this song is very encouraging haha (Y) loveee it
from a popular music standpoint...the Taiwanese are the ones who have preserved much of the popular hokkien songs for people to enjoy. There are lots of Taiwanese in Flushing. I'm sure if you love to karaoke in Hokkien...many of the Taiwanese functions have karaoke contests...and would probably welcome you.
