God is against dog meat eating but not because dogs would be special animals. Dogs or any pets aren't anything special to God. God didn't create any animal as a pet that lives in the house with people. Dogs are scavengers and dirty stray dogs to God. Dog meat can't be eaten because dogs are filthy animals and can't therefore be eaten. Every animal that has paws is filthy in Bible and that's why can't be eaten. It's said in Leviticus 11:27.
