Was very impressed with how the final turned out. Tanaka had a look on his face that screamed that there was no way he was going to loose

Japan are just unbelievably strong at U66… all Japanese final at Worlds without using either Abe or Maruyama… amazing.

I feel sorry for MARUYAMA. For years he has been "chasing" ABE, and now there's TANAKA and TAKEOKA stepping up. Do you think ABE will retire after the Olympics and let the young guns fight it out?

Honestly Maruyama is done, but he can still do whatever he wants if he chooses to.

I think Maruyama is chilling at this point. There's no way Abe is retiring after Paris LOL. He's so dominant and he's still young at 26 years old. The young guns are gonna have to pry the -66 spot from his cold dead hands if they want any chance before LA 2028

Abe has expressed interest in being the next person after Nomura to win three consecutive Olympics. Chances are, he's going to continue competing until 2028 at the least unless Tanaka and Takeoka are able to surpass him. Before this year, it seemed like there just weren't that many good options to try to compete against Abe outside of Maruyama, but now we know that Tanaka and Takeoka are threats for his run for Los Angeles.
