4:05 "And then Masada just twirled in like a goddamn helicopter and proceded to just *break it the fuck down*, and all we could do was just sit and stare in awe."
Its hilarious how at 4:40 Masada was about to transition into his next dance but accidentally walks into the glass, recoils from the impact and falls of the balcony. Absolute cinema
Did anyone else notice that this was basically a remake of his first video? They're all trying to beat a game in Madotsuki's apartment, and then the people not currently playing are dancing in the background to the theme of a megaman song. They even appear in the same order. I'm almost sure this was intentional, but WOW it's funny how much of a step up it is if you go to compare it.
I love that you can tell their personalities by just looking how they bounce while playing. Madotsuki is just bouncing to the song, she is having fun. Monoko is bouncing a little bit more agressively, like a hyper active child. Poniko doesn't quite bounces she more like swings, she is more chill or like her face suggest, she is just tired of life. Monoe bounces playfuly, she knows she got this, she is just playing with her food. ....And then there's Masada.
I've realized that this channel is not only the pillar holding the entire Yume Nikki community together, but also a place where we can see Gobou grow as an animator his first animations are fairly simple but his latest ones are cinematic masterpieces
I keep seeing people saying that Gobou carries the fanbase on their back, but that literally isn’t true. This game gets discussed and receives fan art on the daily, regardless of whether or not Gobou uploaded that day. Sure, a lot of people do become active in the fanbase when they upload, but this doesn’t particularly mean they’re the reason why the fan base still even exists.
Not only can you see his growth as an animator it turns out this seems to be a reanimation of the very first video he made: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--vYafd-dm14.htmlsi=sQI_yFuK58Pp7djx
@@reformedorthodoxmunmanquara "B-but akshully" No. It isn't repeated too often, because he doesn't post all that often. Or is a literal year ago since the last vid "often" to you? I honestly couldn't care less about other people's "fan art." This guy is the reason I discovered Yume Nikki, and the only content creator I care to keep up with.
yume nikki community has been active for a while actually ever since the official release of collective unconscious, the new online yume nikki fangame, but gobou animation always appreciated
Love the smugness. Not only she isn't even paying full attention to the screen but also release both hands from the controller and turn around for a frame just to troll Madotsuki.
fucking live for the way gobou uses motion for humor. on everyone's turns, everyone's bobbing or dancing really fluidly, which is juxtaposed by the less fluid motion of movements between turns. it's all really good set-up for madara's turn, where in an instant everyone is frozen solid while madara's dancing his fucking heart out. props to gobou.
I like how this keeps the continuity that Monoe is the best at Megaman. Similarly, I also like how Madotsuki still gets upset at how much better Monoe is at the game than she is.
@@adammckay3299 "hey mado!" "wha-" "hey mado!" "wh-" "hey mado hey mado hey mado!" "WHAT. WHAT DO YOU WANT. STOP PAUSING THE GAME TO TALK TO ME." i think it went like that
Every megaman x5 reference in this video: 0:23 the staircase of hands as the staircase section from the laser institute and monoko falls exacly like a spiky mk-II 1:55 poniko strikes the zero win pose 2:13 the frog character acts similar to the sigma virus and posesses poniko 3:49 the neon parrot recreates the enigma cannon shotting eurasia scene
Poniko's and Monoe's dynamic between the the four in their little friend group are my favorite in Gobou's animations. Can replay 2:41 for an unreasonable amount of time. The stoic Poniko being unfazed by the mischivious Monoe's little jokes. Monoe lives off the idea that she'll make her friend crack a smile one day.
The true happy end of Yume Nikki is that she now has the legendary thing that everyone yearns for, having friends that come over just to play fun classic single player games to pass your controller around with
i really didn't think i'd end up seeing a "truly toby fox's music is impossible to ruin" equivalent become a trend for gobou's comment sections, but here we are
The mastery of your craft one needs to pull off these tiny micro-expressions on characters with so few facial features is remarkable. As always, Monoe steals the show. I like how they had to suppress Poniko's power level with the forest ghost possession. For some reason, I feel like she's a real power gamer.
Glad to see we're all in attendance for the annual "gobou carrying the Yume Nikki fan community with their animation" meeting. Happy to see everyone again.
you know, today while thinking about your animations, i realised something. i realised that one day you will stop posting. nothing lasts forever. your animations have always been something i've treasured a lot. it's just so wonderful to see you making these playful animations. sure there may be no deep purpose, and it may just be for fun... but, i think that's part of what makes me love them so much. even though they seemingly have no deeper purpose, they always bring a smile to my face, and your channel has always felt like a nice place, a lively place, where i can come back to to me this is a good part of this world, a pure part even though it's so simple, to me it's so wonderful in a way i feel like i belong here and i've fallen in love with your animations in a way that i cannot explain... i find much beauty in the fact that you have chosen to share what lies within you with the rest of the world. and you have gotten such a wonderful response from so many people, including me. that's so amazing and miraculous don't you think? and it's also so good to see how you've improved over time, through these years... it's like sharing your personal journey, and part of yourself. and i'm so glad i got to witness that but today i realized... i've been taking this for granted... i suppose i just got so used to thinking of them as something good that will always be there... that i forgot that one day new animations will stop being posted. ... and that the person posting them will be gone.. you will be gone. i started wondering what will i do then? what should i do now? and i think there's not much i can really do i'm just a viewer. i treasure your animations and your creations it's all so wonderful but there's nothing i can do... all i can do is watch. i suppose in a way that's all anyone can do. nobody can stop entropy. nobody can stop death. everything ends... but even though you'll be gone even though there was nothing i do... i just, want to say... thank you so much for making these i feel truly blessed that i got to witness your animations, while we were both alive... isn't that such a miracle? i really am, so grateful... and i always will be i'm crying while writing this i really do mean it thank you so much ありがとうごさいますゴボンさん。
I don't know how to describe it, but Gobou's pixel art feels so god-tier that it doesn't feel like art anymore. Those aren't characters. Those are living beings in a pixel world, and somehow Gobou took a video camera and Blue Skidooed into the game to document their funky fresh dance moves.
@@Boo-gt8ggfangames, but like, people still dont talk very much about it like before. The fandom is really NOT that dead, but yeah, it is dead if you count how much popularity it had before than it recently have.
@@sahhikon With YNO the fandom is wayyy more lively than before imo I didn't interact with the fandom much 10-ish years ago, but I don't think it's that different from now? There's still lots of new fangames coming regularly, we have Dream Diary Jam, lots of fanart on Tumblr, Twitter and RU-vid... And YNO obviously-
I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned in the comments yet, but at 4:41 Masada tries to do the same snapping dance move he did in the video where he's running from flute Madotsuki, before hitting the glass... You can barely see it, but it's little details like this that make gobou's works so memorable!
There's a lot of cool _Mega Man_ references here for the astute viewers! 0:26 - Another comment pointed out that Monoko falls down the stairs like the Spiky wheeled enemies that are also present in the Laser Institute stage (The music that this animation is using) 0:38 - Monoko is doing the _Classic_ series idle sprite, whether or not that was intentional because she normally looks like that 1:56 - Poniko is doing Zero's X4/X5 win animation (Very fitting because of the blonde ponytail) 2:18 - Poniko absorbs one of the Frog characters like the Sigma Virus in X5, thus giving her the same degrading aura effect 3:48 - One of the Neon NPCs in the background shoots out a laser like the Enigma Cannon does in the X5 cutscene 4:01 - This one is a stretch, but Masada falls down unto the balcony the same way the mini-bosses (The Prism Guardians) does in the same level I can't tell what the references are with Monoe's entrance or her pose, and the same goes for Masada. I also don't know if the background dances are a reference to something as well, but it looks like they're taken from the previous animations. I probably missed some other references here, so I hope another comment can identify them for the rest of us. -(I originally thought that --3:44-- is another reference to one of Zero's poses, but the only character that did that was ViA from X DiVE, so I doubt it)-
0:38 I think it's more coincidence, as this is moreso just a STANCE Monoko has a habit of doing than a specific pose, she tends to stand like that sometimes
I love how this guy just posts yearly and never otherwise interacts with his constantly growing fanbase. Gives these mildly obscure videos a little more charm.
3:31 Monoe turns around and spooks the girls, Madotsuki has red eyes and is holding her knife, Poniko is behind Mado and clutching her arm (most likely trying to hold her back from Monoe), and Monoko... continues to vibe.
@@dumbotv3820 i am not going to lie to you. this shit is bonkers. the first few times i played it i almost shat myself with lots of areas and some still creep me out ngl, but i've gotten used to some of it. i've got 14 effects and just earlier today i found masada but sadly i didn't have the midget effect, tbh now i have no idea how to proceed and it sucks to open up the wiki everytime but it's also kinda tiring to just run there trying to find something so idk if i'll even beat the game but hell yeah this is a cool type of unnerving
Omg new gobou animation!!! 2:45 is so cute lol This has got to be my fav so far, I love how much personality they are all given. The looping is so clever, and the cherry on top is that it’s a reference to this channel’s first video! Amazing :D
