I am in HR since 2016. Looking at someone's application if they are already lack of Canadian work experienece, employment are such short term in between and with an accent (sadly that really affect peoples' impression), it would be hard for me to screen in this applicant. Always look for companies that will provide clear employment terms. Also i would never work in a company that only hires everyone from only one culture. (Race) because lack of diversity is very unhealthy. You are right, even if your English is bad, don't be afraid to speak it. Thanks for sharing!
@jackscanadalife hi Jack. Thank you for actually reading my comment. I appreciate it. My Chinese is really bad so if you don't mind, I will continue to type in English. I hire all kinds of age range but due to the nature of my government department I cannot disclose where I work. Basically a lot of people look for hybrid working (work from home and office), it becomes really hard for me to hire as we only offer 40% work from home. Also I can basically only hire citizens of Canada so my opinion may not apply to a lot of people. Also a lot of people think government works are lazy and the work is easy but in many departments we work our ass off 😒 although I have to say it is much easier than when I worked for the bank for 9 years here. Banking jobs are just ridiculous. It is so difficult to hire even for entry level and my starting salary for them is quite high. ($28 an hour but i can only hire people on 90 days per year casual basis) People want no monthly parking fees, work from home or.close to home but we are in Surrey, work life balance, easy work, no administrative work but high paying jobs. As a hiring person, I find people who apply for jobs in my department is very entitled. I know a lot of new immigrants are eager to work but for the limitation of security clearance requiring 5 years of residence in Canada and Canadian work experience, it is hard for me to hire those hard working non-entitled people. This is my public service labour market opinion. =) Hope this helps a little.
@@jackscanadalife if no contract , the staff is protected by the law. It may be ok to work part time in bubble tea house paying min wage. But definitely not ok for a sales job where you earn commission.
