Ari and Jay share how they encourage each other and talk about when Jay first met Ari's parents at Ari's college graduation. Jay tells the things Ari's dad asked him and they discuss Ari's college experience.
Thank you guys so much for watching and I encourage you in whatever route you choose for your education! -Ari ^_^

从社区学院转入大学是非常好的一个策略。便宜很多,而且社区学院一般都提供转入大学的程序。我的教授当年不止一次的提到他喜欢从社区学院来的学生,因为他们有目标且很努力。

Well done! Ari! I have many colleagues also did the same: enrolled in community college for two years and carried academic credit to university for another 2 or 3 years! Most economical way to get a bachelor’s degree or higher. Another plus is it’s relatively easier to excel in community college if you are self motivated, GPA would be impressive which helps to get into good universities!

I never took any loan and have no debt. I don't think US college allows international students to take loans. I recommend any American students who look for bachelor's degree option. Student debts of $30K to $50K are normal in the U.S., unfortunately. However, after graduation and if you land a job in a decent company your entry level pay, depending on the states you are in, can range from $35K to $55K. This is for typical clerical type jobs. If you graduated with a technical degree such as engineering or computer science the pay ranges are much higher. If you graduated from a top college such as those ranked in the top 10s USNWR ranking table, the job opportunities are for these students are extremely broad. If you are frugal and if you share apartment with friends or live in your parents home you can easily pay off your loan in no time. Scholarship for foreign students are very limited and very difficult to get unless you are truly smart. Some scholarships are based on financial need other are just for your brilliance. Foreign students who are extremely brilliance and score extremely well in SAT and show other great attributes should have no problem getting scholarships. Top colleges especially Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, U of Chicago, Stanford, literary pay you to attend their colleges. Unfortunately the acceptance rate of these colleges is like 5% or lower, almost impossible to get in.

Community college is a smart way for many Americans to satisfy basic lower level courses and then transfer to a 4 year school and focus on their major. It's much more economical. The downside is you don't get the full "college experience" which many kids want. Some kids who aren't used to a non regimented schedule struggle with their new found freedom. GPA, internships, and your college major usually determine your salary after graduation. STEM and business degrees are often the most valuable while many liberal arts and social sciences graduates have a difficult time finding good job opportunities unless you attended an elite school. When we were looking for a nanny for our 2 kids, there were so many undergraduate psychology majors who couldn't do anything with their bachelor's degree. Psychology, International business, social sciences, communications really struggle to find a job in their field unless they secured a strong internship or have a wide network. Many of these kids go to graduate school and then accumulate more debt. Unfortunately, many kids don't get real world guidance or have a long term career plan.

@@smwk2017 All valid points. The reality is many students aren't ready for a 4 year college right out of high school so taking a few classes and living at home helps ease the transition. Full time College kids are much more likely to encounter bad influences since most live on campus or near the school rather than at home. Most community college students don't hang around the school. There's no real campus life. Quality of education at community college isn't that important because you're taking lower level courses like government or history just to satisfy a requirement that has no application to your major. Only upper level courses really matter on college transcripts as most employers want you to excel in the classes most applicable to your field.

現今美國大學一大部分的收入是從國際學生的學費而來的,去年川普限制國際生的入學,讓許多的大學都叫苦連天的。International students contributed $45 billion to the U.S. economy in 2018, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, much of it from tuition, fees and living expenses. These students typically pay higher tuition than domestic students, making many American universities dependent on the revenue streams.

I just checked the average tuition of Chinese universities is around 800 USD per year, rent is less than 200 usd per year ,food cost is around 120 usd per month (I think Chinese government already covered the big part, otherwise it can't be that cheap),but if you have a special major like Arts, that will cost a lot, one of my friend use to took private piano lessons (200 usd per hour) Most of the cost for Chinese colleague students are not tuition, the big part is living cost if you want to hang out with friends or you have a girlfriend, they like to compare, buy a lot of fancy clothes and electronic products, not many students have part time jobs. all the money come from their parents Especially for some students born after late 90s are really spolied, they will ask their parents to buy thousand dollors AJ shoes,Canada goose ,Apple computer, latest phones that kinda of stuff not all of them, some people go to universities they spend most of the time on study .

I found that colleges in the West are realtively cheaper than the East. I grew up in Detroit and Indianapolis and the state school tuitions are close to what you were talking about (10k-20k a year) but I moved out west and then went to college thankfully the tuition is much cheaper. Only $5,500 a year 🙌🏻 at the state school that I go to. With my FAFSA and scholarships I have money left over too. Before I moved I was going to go to a community college first, and transfer ro save money. It's soooo important to plan ahead and look into how to pay for tuition otherwise it can get expensive quickly.

One way to save money is to study for 1 year in American High School or live in a State for 1 year first and pay In-State College Tuition instead of Out-of-State Tuition. Each State in the USA has Public universities; some states like Texas and Florida have much lower tuition and the cost of living is lower.
