I think its a matter of you getting used to it. We normally pay minimum 15% tips for dining out. We basically need 2 people in a household to work and live comfortably due to the high tax bracket :(
I live in Midwest I think it’s more “affordable “ compare with LA, but if cause we don’t have a year long nice weather like in LA.. everything is so expensive now sigh
And you can use public transportation as well. Or just order groceries to be delivered though you pay fees. There are such services for asian groceries too.
But where FDIC gets its funding ? Deposits of general public, I think. Every dollar used by FDIC needs to be back-filled ? How and by whom ? Please guess..

Clients from SCB and Signature were made whole with the money from FDIC, which are funded by banks (in term of insurance premium), instead of taxpayer $ that Wing said.
However, any account over $250,000 has not paid any premium to FDIC at all so they are not back by anything. What they did is just hope no more bank will have such trouble, otherwise, FDIC will use up their reserve by paying those non-back accounts and they need Fed for help.
