茶色くなってきたジャコウアゲハの幼虫 20240710  

学名: Atrophaneura alcinous 又は Byasa alcinous
場所: 岐阜県多治見市
以前見た時より、茶色っぽい幼虫が増えてきました。
夏の盛りになると茶色い幼虫が増えると言われていますが、理由については諸説あります。
私は枯れてきたウマノスズクサの色に合わせた保護色なのではないかと思います。
There seem to be more brownish larvae now compared to when I last saw them.
It is said that the number of brown larvae increases in the height of summer, but there are various theories about the reason.
I think it might be camouflage to match the color of the withering Aristolochia plants.
