A side note: General Tso' Chicken is NOT a traditional Chinese dish, and it belongs to the contemporary culinary invention genre or a part of American-Chinese cuisine. This dish was invented in the 1950s in Taiwan (just stating a fact, no political message intended here). When the inventor/cook moved to the US and opened his American-Chinese restaurant, this dish gained popularity in the States, and the overall flavour of the dish was modified in order to adapt to the mainstream American taste. Apparently, the original version of General Tso's chicken is supposed to be spicy and salty, not sweet. Most interestingly, General Tso' Chicken is often mistakenly categorized as a part of the Xiang (Hunan) Branch of Chinese cuisine, although natives from Hunan do not recognize this dish. The sweetness of the Chicken is very odd in comparison to other Hunan-styled dishes, since the Xiang (Hunan) cuisine is known for the layers of saltiness and spiciness of its dishes.
Stacy Tze-Yi Yang Plum sauce = duck sauce = 蘇梅醬 Only in east coast, please let other Americans know, if you asked for duck sauce in the west coast, you will get a “huh?” reaction in Chinese restaurants!
I regularly order sesame chicken at various Chinese restaurants and also agree Joe’s is one of the best. I can see why people would find the white breast meat too chunky and bland but that’s precisely why I like it. Most places tend to just heavily batter up some random chicken meat bits and coat it with the sauce, not very good to me.

Yes, the Xiao Lun Bao is good but the others are just okay, compared with that in HK. But Joe Shanghai is the best I could choose in NY then
