影片和史實有段距離。 最先帶領過河的軍官Karl H. Timmermann 來自Omaha, Nebraska 附近的Elkhorn River 小鎮。 參考以下維基的資料: Company commander 2d Lt. Timmermann led an under-strength squad of men from the 27 AIB onto the west side of the bridge, despite the risk that the bridge could be destroyed with them on it.Just as the Americans approached, Corporal Faust set off the secondary explosives. Both the Germans and the Americans watched the smoke and haze clear from the explosion and were shocked to see the bridge was still standing. Only the charge on the southeast pier, two-thirds of the way across, had exploded, but the weak industrial explosive had failed to bring down the well-built steel bridge.
The bridge at Remagen - an American version of the battle on that bridge during WWII. Pretty cool movie considering utilizing the attitude of the American soldiers in the 60s. There is some sense of reality rather than the typical Chinese movie where staunch patriotism is always the main theme.
What you say about the sample of Chinese movies you perhaps watched also applies to 99.9% of Hollywood movies, especially the recent ones. Also it is generally easier to have a more sympathetic storyline for the enemy when 1. You are the victor and 2. You are fighting on their soil destroying their towns and cities. Even this movie has a rather obviously political undertone that is very much aligned with the US cold war propaganda at the time. I.e. German people good (hence we can be allies fighting the Soviets) and it was the robotic SS and Nazies who are evil. They purposely and conveniently overlooked the fact that Nazies came from the people and very much are part of the people for majority of the times of the war.
Thanks for the name of the movie, so I can find the movie and watch now! Seems like a super great movie, what a human tragedy, all the brave men died in vain.
