“Many people think indigenous education is backward, but in reality, it’s us city folks who have the most to be ashamed of.”
As an adventurous individual from the post-90s generation, Kuik Yi Ke shared how she was dedicated to showcasing the lives of indigenous people to the world. She fearlessly ventured into the deep mountains and lush forests of the Malay Peninsula, forming friendships with indigenous communities, even enduring encounters with leeches, in her quest to document the lives of these indigenous people.
Her goal goes beyond merely experiencing their way of life; it’s about capturing their voices and images so that more people can come to understand these friends who reside between the forests and mountains, seemingly distant but deeply interconnected with us.
For Yi Ke, stepping into the world of the indigenous people and witnessing their diverse faces and beliefs reveals the true essence of Malaysia. It prompts urban residents to reconsider their own way of existence. Only by exploring the world of indigenous people can we unveil the authentic Malaysia.

Thank you for a valuable sharing of painstaking research, so little is known about their history, culture, livelihoods and current prospects. 😢. We pray that you will please continue your good works towards educating Malaysians about our country and it's history. TQ.

YIKE thank you for your meaningful sharing. It is AWESOME and with great study valuable piece of information The History of Malaysia and the Indigenous. In the name of Bumi Putra they snatch off the Indigenous benefits and cultural, not sure who else will share this more to protect these bunch of folks on the land Peninsular Malaysia? Wonder will the Msia Govern will do more to keep their cultural like what the PRC protect their indigenous cultural in Yunan and others provinces....
