J. The art that you’ve created with StayC has resonated with me so much, and this special letter I’m releasing for your birthday contains the reasons why. I feel that some people might not understand how I could say this much, but I’m really happy to know you, so I’m just going to attempt to pour all of my thoughts out here. I am going to start by talking by your musicality, specially your voice. Other idols and artists in general have deep voices, yes, but it’s not even debatable that nobody has a sound even remotely close to yours. You have such an impressive range for somebody who has a deeper voice. Even if you had debuted with little to no vocal training, your voice would automatically been in its own league amongst almost every other vocalist to date. You have this rich, soulfulness that can be heard in every word. That’s not all, though. It goes without saying that when it comes to rapping, you are dominating in every aspect. I feel like it can be a bit difficult to stand out or distinguish yourself from other rappers, but you have this charisma and tone that sets you completely apart from the rest. You add emphasis at all of the right parts and although you have a deeper voice, the inflection of it makes your lines even more exciting. Especially when doing slower, more ballad-like songs, your melodic raps are nothing short of stunning. Your flow in general is just absolutely elite and it discerns you from all other rappers in your time. All I can say is, I hope you rap as long as you’re engaged in music because otherwise, the world is going to lose a natural-born rapper. Similarly, just as your singing and rapping is presented so exclusivity, your dancing demands to be responded to with the utmost revere. I love that you even almost make the choreographies look easy by maintaining a good balance of power and energy. You completely own the stage when you dance and most importantly, you look very comfortable as well. Every time you dance it’s even more captivating and striking than before. The ultimate delight of your dancing though, is your facial expressions; where you reign supreme like nobody else. Overall, you are one of the most quintessential idols of the fourth generation. You are an absolute ace in every art of performing. As much as I love your musicality, I love your personality all the same. One of the first qualities of yours that couldn’t be missed is how goofy you are. I also notice how emotionally intelligent you are. Especially given you are at such a young age and a well-known idol, it is remarkable how well you take care of yourself and can address your emotions. You are very bold and daring as well, and I’ve realized you’re not typically one to back down from a challenge. There are no limits to your creativity, either. Perhaps, what really makes you who you are, is you ability to love honestly and put others before yourself. When you and your members were trainees, I watched in amazement as you took care of them without a second thought. Now, I often refer to you as the relief for your members, as you are always so bubbly and bright. I believe you are the reason that even work feels like play for them. I want to thank you for being a safe space for your members to return to as well. You are their sister for life. I know they will always remember what you’ve taught them and they must have so much self-love because of you. Thank you for loving your members so sincerely, changing their lives for the better, and helping them live their lives to the fullest. I want to personally thank your parents for raising you and bringing you into the world in the way that they have. I can only imagine how much they’ve helped you get to where you are now. I know that based on that I don’t need to remind you of this, but there will be times where you feel completely low and lost. In these times, if you look to your family, the way will become clear for you again and they will guide you to remember your purpose. Your family will always love, support, and know you in a way that we never could; so always remember them in times of need. Even if you feel like you’ve made a mistake or fallen down, you are making them proud with every step you take; both with StayC and on your own. As Swith, we keep them in our hearts as you do. J, without you, Swith would not be able to prosper, and I just want to take time to put emphasis on just how much you mean to us. Swith feels like one big loving community and you help make it so that we always feel like we’re together no matter where we are. No matter how you busy you are, you are always finding the time to talk to us. It feels so nice that our relationship feels so friendly and warm. Under no circumstances are you obligated to talk to us about certain topics, but you must really trust us to feel inclined to be so open with us. Your routine Monday Fairy’ appearance gives Swith enough courage to make it through an entire week, and it is so thoughtful of you to give us ways to motivate ourselves. I hope that you can see that we don’t take your work and friendship for granted and we will be there for you when you need us most. Thank you for being the reason we believe in ourselves, and for giving us memories we can hold on to for the rest of our lives. I know that you’ve been through a lot, both personally and professionally. During your trainee days specifically, I saw that with each new day arose a new battle that you were thrown into and had to find a way to survive. I think all the time about how lonely you must have felt even though you were surrounded by others. With this, I want nothing more for you than to know that not only do we feel so much pride for how well you’ve carried yourself through debut, we also have such respect for you for never giving up. You have to know that not many people can exercise resiliency like you can, and you still have so much life left to live and learn from. We are so proud of you for picking yourself up when you are down and putting yourself back on the path you want to walk. I know that as long as you keep this mindset and maturity, you will make it out on top of what attempts to hold you back. Also know to take as much time for yourself to prioritize your well-being. Let come what may; with your loved ones standing firmly by you, you will become a more experienced person because of it. I hope that this birthday makes all of your dreams come true and that you accomplish all that you desire today. If you ever get to a point where you start to question your position as an idol, how your future may look, or any misfortune in your personal life, I hope you look to your Swith for clarity to see that you are exactly where you need to be. Your Swith wouldn’t be the peaceful, well-mannered and optimistic people we are without you. I hope that you feel all of our love pouring in from all over the world and it warms your heart!
