What makes J-Hope special? The way we typically consume K-pop is rather 'flat' and static, through MVs and pre-recorded performances with set choreography and camera shots. J-Hope stands out for emphasizing the live aspect and audience experience rather than something that reads well on camera. His style of performing is seemingly spontaneous, incorporating freestyled moves (eg. at the start of Mic Drop and his popping in Tear) and ad-libs. He designs both of his solo stages MAMA and Just Dance for optimal engagement rather than letting the audience be a passive witness. He uses not only the main stage, but also the runway and extended stage to interact with the audience at all corners. An iconic example from Just Dance is when he removes his earpiece to hear the fan chants of his name. It is a simple yet ingenious gesture that draws the audience in. For the ending chorus of MAMA, J-Hope invites everyone to join in the singing which leads to an unforgettable climax. This is where J-Hope goes beyond a mere 'dancer' and evolves into an artist with a strong vision and an exceptional performer who is able to command the attention of tens of thousands of people. He creates a connection that you can only get in person, not from watching a recording on a flat screen. His energy is larger-than-life. Photos and even videos only capture someone to a certain extent. His aura and charisma is inevitably diluted in flat images or recordings, which is why you have to see Jung Hoseok perform live to fully understand who he is.
This unique ability to get the audience moving bleeds into his songwriting/ producing style. Perhaps this is connected to his dance roots- J-Hope has a natural sense of flow and rhythm in his rap and he is skilled at creating catchy bops and funky pop melodies. He established a distinctive musical and visual identity with Hope World, which continued with the release of Chicken Noodle Soup. CNS was exciting and refreshing partly because it had an element of audience interaction with the Tik-Tok challenge, and one can see a similar phenomenon happening with the Ego challenges. CNS also marked the return of J-Hope the street dancer, something which has an indelible influence on the artist and performer he is today. Street dance is not traditionally performed on stage and instead happens in the form of cyphers and dance battles where the audience gets to play a role. In a similar manner, J-Hope thrives on and feeds off the energy of the audience. He knows how to generate a hyped atmosphere at concerts, not unlike the energy you get during a cypher or battle.
@@van182 Thank you, I'm glad to know that someone appreciates my perspective. The first time I saw J-Hope perform, he had a magnetic charm that drew me in immediately. It took me a while to put my finger on why I was so captivated. It's easy to just know him as a 'good dancer', and not go beyond that.
Best comment ever (both parts)!!! I wish I could like it x10000. It should be at the top of the comment section for everyone to see and read! Thank you Lin. :-)
@@lora8652 sorry for the mistake I'm only 13but I don't know sprite spelling think so 😭😭sorry jhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppeeeee 😭😭😭😞
There's something about Hoseok when he performs. He captivates me like an enchantment. I was not even a kpop fan when I saw Mic drop at MAMA the first time. And that person with red hair blew my mind. He turned me into an Army the next day. He mesmerized me every single time he performs on stage. No artist can match his artistry.
Hoseok planned the whole live stage of 'just dance' while working on the song. His vision, creation is spectacular. He incoorperated different dance styles into his choreo, freestyling all while managing to strategize the entire arena. Hoseok's execution unmatched. He is born to perform and to deliver excellence. "Just dance" will remain one of the most memorable amazing live stage.
Hes stage presence is insane Edit: OMG!! this is my first time ever getting this many likes, 1k?!? 😱Thank you guys so much. let's keep loving and supporting our boys💪💜
My fave part is when he shouts, "Let's Go!", does a double spin and the water jets explode! He has such style and his dancing is so free, with his body looking like it's made of rubber. LOVE this handsome man and his fabulous voice! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yesterday, K-media reported jhope donated 100M won for the children in need during this hard time. So far, his individual donation has reached 450 Million Won!! He is a man of golden heart on top of being a great artist.
Omg !! He is amazing Jesus .. indeed golden ! the fact that I heard K-medias has said a good thing about hoseok too shooked me as hell, those biased af medias ..
@@nehakulkarni26 stop saying he is underrated whne in reality he isn't, not on music charts and being recognized by real pros, kpop polls don't pay the bills, streams and views do and there he is killing it, he is the only Korean solo artist that have sold 5 song with over 100k units in the US, he has the most watched solo MV in BTS and soon 200M, the most streamed Korean solo album for any artist, the most followed Korean solo artist on Spotify with over 4M with only 8 songs, 300M streams just on his J-Hope Profile plus his bts solo songs etc etc... If you keep that mindset that he is underrated it will never go away this isn't 2014 anymore hype him as the best casue he is the best period.
j-hope actually had to practice with tapes during the rehearsal of just dance because the cubes had to be installed. so he memorized the rising and lowering of the cubes by himself. when the cubes are installed and hours before the stage. they practiced it with the props and hobi got it in one try. the director was surprised because it was hard to memorize the choreo and the cube movements but he did. he called hobi a genius and said his charisma is one of the reasons bts is here today.

@@muti-fandomgirl2286 Ah ah ah! BTS is a big treasure chest in which each gem is a talent yes, but there are other people and grps with remarkable talents too But really BTS is talented AND unique Unique cuz of their rare voices colors, great performances, energy, impact, honest, reassuring and empowering lyrics, But Jhope alone as a EXTREMELY GREAT (his techniques are OOOOF!) dancer, composer, sub vocal, producer....this man is 🌋
He is the only one with enough range and charisma to pull off a performance like this, most kpop artists only add a choreo to their song and do the same thing over and over live heavily using backtrack, hoseok makes small but noticeable changes in choreo, he engages with the crowd and changes the song to fit a live performance better. He knows what works live and how to use all his skills the best way. Edit: I always come back to this performance, hoseok Is just superior and on another level I miss seeing him live so much I hope we can get him in concerts soon is definitely where he shines the most, TV performances are too restrictive for him and the kpop world too small.
jhope will headline Lollapalooza 2022 on Sun, July 31st! 🙌 His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival.
rip I've been having a bad run in studies since last year. I've caused too many issues with my family and people I don't even know. Wasted a ton of money on education for nothing and now we're in a shortage of money. My future looks grim now. I just sit and binge watch KPOP these days to keep myself occupied. It's all a mess man. :(. But it's okay to fall as long as you get back up! (From BTS-Run) . I'm praying to get some sort of motivation to study and get a job. I know I can and so can you! And yea Hobi does make us happy 😊
