Korea only receives information from China and has used Chinese characters and has adapted itself to be more Chinese than Chinese. This predated the idea of nationalism. And it is history that has already passed. At present, Koreans are not allowed to learn Chinese characters. In the past, it is still the same. Some governments require them to learn them, some do not. But in the past, Korea used Chinese characters. Only a few Chinese words remain today.
