As always I see you as having a little difficulty with the space-time mechanics, even if you still understood quite well what happened, but just to summarize: yes, the prologue of the episode shows us the fateful day of Sol's accident in the timeline original, i.e. before the 2022/2023 Sol went back to modify it. Although we had already understood that Sol's accident was not an accident, but a real attempt on his life, we finally see what happened, that is, that, through a series of very unfortunate coincidences, Sol came across the serial killer who drives the taxi and that, the moment he saw her, she automatically became his prey. Then, as if from Sol's faded memories, we see that she was kidnapped, but that she managed to escape, but that unfortunately she was unable to run far enough to avoid getting hit by the killer and ending up in the water. Seon-jae, who in this timeline has a crush on Sol, but never had the courage to declare himself, simply staying next to her waiting for the right moment, saw what happened and dived in to save Sol , as we already knew. What we didn't know, however, is that after Seon-jae saved Sol from drowning, the killer returned to the scene trying to kill him (and surely try to kill her too) this is because they both saw his face and therefore they are a danger to him. Fortunately Seon-jae manages to resist the attack and the killer will then be arrested by a nearby patrol, the rest is known. Then the scene shifts to the new timeline, where it seems that, despite the changes made, the fate of being kidnapped by the killer remains the same. In this regard, since you were wondering about the killer's general motivations, there's no need to dig who knows how much, also because from this point of view the drama decides not to characterize this character any more than that, who, as I wrote previously, in the end only takes on the role of the ultimate obstacle for the two lovers, so he simply has a fixation for the young girls he kidnaps and, at the end of it all, kills them. This is generally speaking, but from here on, as you already know since you've seen it all, Sol and Seon-jae will become his obsession, precisely because because of them he has spent fifteen (fourteen in the new timeline) years of prison (this, by deduction, also gives us the true cause of Seon-jae's death in the original timeline...). However, in the new scenario, despite the repetition of the story, things change enough (mainly thanks to Sol's and then Seon-jae's previous attempts to warn the police) to prevent the killer from running over Sol and making her lose her use of legs. At this point, again due to script requirements, but perhaps because it has reached a clear turning point in the timeline, the clock reactivates and transfers Sol's consciousness from 2023 back into his body, which however is now in a new timeline storm in which he still has functioning legs (but is no longer a fan of Seon-jae as an idol, therefore he no longer even has a watch) created by all the changes made, leaving her 2008 body free again to his consciousness original which, let's remember, has no interest in Seon-jae. In a certain sense, Sol succeeded in her aim: she saved Seon-jae, given that he is still alive on the date in which he should have died (even if at the end of the episode we will discover that the end-of-year concert has been moved and therefore Sol fears that he is still in danger at the end of the episode, given that she vehemently insists on staying with him in order to save him) and furthermore she managed to get her legs back and therefore a life with more possibilities and in fact she now has the job that, in the first episode, was denied due to disability; all this, however, at the price of her relationship with Seon-jae. In fact, the scenario that she herself was afraid of was created, the one for which she rejected Seon-jae's love, that is, not knowing how long she would remain in the past, there was a risk that Seon-jae would found, sooner or later, with the Sol of 2008 who has no feelings for him, leaving him alone with a broken heart. As her brother said: happiness has a price and that price, it seems, is sacrificing love for Seon-jae. However, now it explains why in the original timeline, when Sol mentioned the accident, his mother became irritated and quickly changed the subject, because she didn't want to tell her that it wasn't an accident since, apparently, she had no memory of it ( memories that were then unlocked in the past). All that aside, the episode was another collection of hilarious moments, between finding out that Hyun-joo and Geum are now married with two kids (as always Seo Hye-won's comedic performances are beautiful) and the continuing misunderstandings and accidental clashes between Sol and Seon-jae, the episode was so much fun, perhaps one of my favorites. A few words should be said about Sol's grandmother, who, although it is not specified, seems to take on the role of "supervisor" of the two lovers and their temporal affairs, clearly all for script needs.
