@@sharonjose4410 Okay, so I'm not the only one who's offended. The bindhi thing honestly has really not significance except for religious reasons pertaining to the third eye. Either than that, it's honestly really used for celebrations, holidays, and fashion. It's actually really respectful when you wear them along with indian clothes for any Indian-related occasion.

I really want her solo debut but I think after elkie, the member who's mostly likely to debut solo in the near future is yeeun, if you go to their fancafe and watch their fancams etc she seems to be the most popular member in Korea. And she's also a good vocalist, if she trained for a few months she can easily be able to promote as a vocalist/rapper/dancer, we already know she's an amazing dancer. I think seungyeon or sorn might follow next if they get really popular because they have more international following, seungyeon is a triple or quadriple threat, triple threat is just overused.. She can easily be the next hyolyn, if cube train her vocals a bit more because she's an amazing dancer, can rap well too, and she's drop dead gorgeous, so a little more training and she can be the next big soloist but I have only hopes and dreams with any expectations right now,... Because cube tbh is incompetent... They're not a bad company but they don't know how to utilize the aces that they have.. Sigh

The thing about those other dancers you mentioned, they have VERY good technique so they are at the top of the game. Seungyeon though, there's something else to her... she pulls you totally in and brings you into her world, like her vibe is on a different level. It's not just technique, there's something completely alluring about her.

I'm a Japanese and I agree with your comment, but from other comments I've read I think people have a problem if other people are TAKING something. It's not wrong to find beauty in something, but taking it while disregarding the people behind it is, I think that's their sentiment. There are also people saying "but all the people complaining are not living there" etc but from my observation, that's because the people that moved countries, using/wore something of their culture then got mocked and discriminated are mainly the ones voicing out about this unfairness (but there are also people being discriminated in their own respective countries) because it was closely connected to their experiences. I don't know if that was understandable. This appropriation/appreciation is a very difficult topic. Orz

Completely agreed! "Cancelling" them is not the right thing as it does not do anything to help them acknowledge their mistakes. We all make mistakes, regardless of whether it has to do something with appropriating another culture. After all no human is born knowing everything. Which why we need to educate them. As far as I know, an international Cheshire account wrote a letter to Cube and Seungyeon has contacted the company to take down the video. Unfortunately they have not done anything so far, I hope it changes and that the group owns up to their mistakes, learns from this so that this never happens again.

Also, Sorn drew an Urna, which is a part of her culture (she's Thai Buddhist) on Yeeun, not a Bindi. Yeeun said namaste cause Thailand had a huge Hindu community too and she might have gotten it mixed up. It's wrong, it Wei would have been more appropriate but what's important is that they grew up from it. Also, the dots that the girls were putting on each other's faces was actually just for fun, and it wasn't on the forehead it was all over the face. It's imitating an Old-school form of Korean slapstick comedy.

LK yeah I saw the video and sadly a few people on twitter still kept insisting that The dot was bindi cuz apparently only dead people are given urnas? That’s what I was told so I don’t really know what’s the truth. Either way, this was two years ago. People shouldn’t be held accountable for something that they have probably educated themselves on. it was an issue when this came out, but cheshire sent emails to the company which were not responded, though we did told her father about it and he said seungyeon noticed the issue and felt really sorry she would make sure not to do it again ^^
