Soyeon wrote this song a year ago because they wanted to try this concept. But now, Minnie and Yuqi have written some songs for the album. So they've been working with this a lot. That's what makes them special.

Definition of HWAA: English Meaning: 1. flower 2. anger 3. rage They portrayed anger and rage through the fire and that’s why it can also mean fire in Korean But this is old Korean. Soyeon mentioned that she used A LOT of old Korean words that aren’t necessarily used anymore. Also just so that you know that’s why Shushua got less lines, because she isn’t confident in her Korean and therefore old Korean would be hard for her to pronounce. Btw Shusha is Taiwanese just in case you didn’t know. I mean 3/6 of gidle are foreign (Minnie, Shushua, Yuqi) Minnie- Thai Shushua- Taiwanese Yuqi- Chinese (The other are Korean Soojin, Miyeon, Soyeon) Hope this helped. Great video 😊

Soyeon said: "The reason I chose to put those two hwaas together is because the song features a narrator who is in winter but will burn the cold away and bloom like a flower and bring spring to them." Firework in Korean is 'fire flower', and Soyeon adds: "I hope the album will be a success that bursts like the blaze of a firework."

G Idle gave us visuals, vocals, beautiful lyrics written by Soyeon and an incredible choreo. They are so versatile. Best girlgroup in my opinion.

Hwaa has multiple meanings, it uses two different Chinese characters with one meaning 'fire' (火) and the other 'flower' (花). Soyeon wrote the song like this to show the burning away of the heartbreak, the melting of a cold heart after a breakup, and then blooming like a flower. But it sounds the same in the song because this song is written in old Hangul and they are pronounced the same way. If you were to say it in mandarin Chinese they would sound different.

It took me four times wathing the m/v to realize they represented winter in the first part of the video (with all the blue aura) then some sort of transition to spring (all the green and pink and the vines and Hwaa as "flower") and it ends right when summer (all the red and the fire and Hwaa as "fire")
