Just found your channel. You have some of the most unique carvings on RU-vid and your videos are done really well. Shows the entire process and stops to show progress. Now, to figure out which carving to do first. 🙂Probably the trees cause I'm a fan of wood spirits.
I took this and marked center on top and drill a 1 1/8 “ - 1 1/4 hole in the top down 3/4 and then carved this wood spirit to make and REALLY neat conversation for my desk top pencil/pen holder. I get a lot of comments! These are great gifts and fun and extremely relaxing to carve I love your concepts for carving
THIS IS THE COOLEST WOOD SPIRIT I’VE SEEN. It will be a great scaled down version for what I’ve been wanting to do to an storm damage stump on my property for awhile!!
I just stumbled across your video. I’m amazed and love this. As an artist I’m always intrigued and excited by new ideas and techniques. I do sometimes work and create with wood. Im going to definitely pick up some woodworking tools and give this a try. Thank you so much for sharing and I’m going to look forward to watching other videos she may have posted.
Morning from Hawaii...Ddalo...this is great...it amazes me how you think of all these wonderful characters to carve...must go on-line to sell...count me in to buy...
I love the technique for the cheekbones! It is so much more realistic than the “let the mustache make the cheekbones” techniques I’ve seen in other videos. My favorite is the second from the left, since I’ve always thought of a tree spirit being, not IN the tree, but the tree itself. I can see how to adapt the carving to accomplish that. Thank you as always for your Beautiful videos, and I am a bit envious of your Helvee knife. There is quite a waiting list for them I’m told…as well as a hefty price tag.
Sei un grande.....da dicembre ho intrapreso quest'arte e sei una fonte d'ispirazione....grazie di tutto. Una domanda ed i tuoi lavori che legno usi??? Buona serata e un grande abbraccio....Giuseppe
Excellent video my good man. Super cool idea and expertly done. I appreciate that you show the chisel and the size at the beginning of video. Thank you.
Love watching you as you do such great work! Fantastic variety of ideas you create. Small respectful criticism is that the sound of your tools dropping on your bench seems to have increased in volume to the point of very unpleasant and almost painful to experience as a viewer. Perhaps something under your tabletop to damper the sharp loud 'bangs' of your tools? Thank you for sharing your hard wool.
Really love watching a master at work, it's always a pleasure watching you at work Ddalo. I love all the fantastic carvings you come up with. Keep up the great work 👍 👏.
Started to get a little too complicated for me these now. I think the Chicken was my limit 🙂. Another brill video and I do like watching them but my skill lets me down. Keep up the amazing work to keep our hobby live...
I thought so too about six months ago. Take a piece of wood and use the corners to carve face after face down the length of the stick. Do this on all 4 corners, all the way down. It takes a lot of practice, but it’s not as difficult as it looks. Especially using the right tools and the gouge techniques that ddalo shows us here. I’ve made so many chickens and I love them so much, but the amount of cross-grain cutting takes a lot more work than a little face. Give it a try. You might be very surprised by what you can accomplish! Since all faces are different, it is a very forgiving project!
check out Van Kelly Woodcarvings, he is an excellent teacher on facial features. anything else for that matter. he did and recommends what Doc had said
Lol love this one I started carving woodspirts but never thought to carve the tree also. Man I'm glad I found your videos, can't wait to see what you do next.
your videos are very inspiring, i just started doing this a short while ago and i find myself watching your videos and having a lot of fun. Your work is wonderful. Do you do this for a living? Thanks again.
I have spent a couple hours trying to find a site that made and/or sold the #9 10mm and 7mm gouges shown in the tree spirits carving. No luck.. Could you point me in the right direction?
You are amazing and I love every single video you make because you show every detail 😍 Can you tell what knives you use or show a link where you can buy these knives that would be great. Warm greetings from Germany
Hello from the Netherlands, I just found your channel, and wow you really make amazing wood cbarvings. I'm watching you'r video (above), I was wondering what kind of roughout knife you use there. Can you tell me the brand and which series of knives this is? Thanks in advance for you'r response. I hope we can enjoy more of your video's. My kind regards. Klaas.
I have a friend who carves in Oregon from Burl Wood these types of faces for large wall hangings. Yours are very unique…love them! What type of wood are you using there? Awesome idea!♥️
