Omg I know exactly what you mean and thought I was the only one who felt that way. I get so excited when one of my fav rappers from a group I like gets to do a solo album because I think they can finally show their full potential as a rapper without having to share the song and only have a couple lines and then they totally do something different like an r&b song or slow song with little to no rapping. I totally get wanting to experiment and try something different so I'm in no way hating on anyone, just that when you have a talented rapper who's all about hip-hop, rapping and loves everything about the genre and then comes out with something completely different it throws you off and as a huge hip-hop fan I'm bummed when they finally get a solo and then don't do any rapping. This doesn't apply to every idol rapper, but there has been a lot of them. And again there is nothing wrong with it, it's just my personal taste in music so I can understand and agree with what OP is saying

Yo okay so I've been wanting to see something from Woo Jinyoung for a while because he was a fave and he's been done dirty sooo many times in his career And I was fully prepared to go "ah, another lackluster debut. Better just try to stream to support." BUT WELL, I did _not_ expect this song to be genuinely phenomenal? I'm used to debut songs being just good, but no, this was nothing short of magnificent. The way his voice suits the rough, angry instrumental, the _lyrics_ (lyrics have always been WJY's strong suit so I wasn't surprised), the flow, the _delivery_-- it's all wonderful.
