I've seen Dong Hyek Lim in concert. Lacked soul, charisma, or anything special to recall. On top of everything, he was extremely rude to his page-turner. I was shocked at his lack of proper etiquette. I'm surprised Argerich would even be seen with him in public. His agents must have forked out a lot for that one.
Miyeong, First, he should have memorized the piece of music before coming on stage. A page turner is simply to help, and should never be strictly used. People pay a lot of money to watch a live concert and they deserve the performers effort in at least memorizing the piece. Second, if he didn't like the way she turned the pages, he could have simply told her at rehearsal, or after the concert. Then, he could have hired another person to turn his pages. Lastly, no one should try to make any excuses for a lousy professional attitude. Just because you are the centre of the show or the boss of a company, doesn't give you the right to treat others beneath you. If he thinks he can treat her poorly and embarrass because she's JUST a page turner, and if he thins she isn't worth respect, then why hire her at all?
In case a pianist plays with other musicians, they need to take a look at the sheets to balance. It's not the obligation to memorize the pieces all the time. You don't know what really happened behind the stage, do you? Or have you asked Lim or the page turner why that happened? Your comment sounds a little malicious.
