장고 타법: 기닥 (기초)

한타와 한국말이 미숙해 영어로 하겠습니다. I'm not claiming that this is the definitive way to play 기닥, but this is the way I learned it learning to play 풍물.
As the name 기닥 indicates, this technique is a combined beat of 기 and 닥. Rather than trying to muddle the two sounds together, please play one right after the other. Don't rush as the beat of 기닥 will come together naturally with practice.
Please remember the obvious. Your arm and hand is bigger and heavier than the janggo stick. For this reason, the janggo stick will follow the movement of your arm and hand. Some players mistakenly twist and contort their body and arm to make the sound of 기닥.
The proper approach is to play the 기 and 닥 as a separate beat. With practice, the gap between 기 and 닥 will become smaller. The sound of 기닥 will come together with mere flick of your wrist.
