I love love love this song!! As for the meaning- So, Jimin said this album is a chronological walk through of his emotions during the pandemic. Here's my take. So we see Jimin looking rather down in what appears to be a home atmosphere, and then suddenly he's quite literally yanked into this opposite atmosphere where there's people and everyone is having a great time. It doesn't seem real, almost seems like a dream? So I looked up dream meanings for mud, and mud often represents a need to overcome trouble or obligations. Mud can also represent frustration and annoyance with your current situation. So I think in the MV Jimin is creating a living daydream of what it was like to be stuck inside during the pandemic, dreaming of a day when we would be free again. The mud is all around him in the first scenes, all over the floor but then we notice it follows him to the party scenes, and then he ends the video with the mud as well. I think he's showing us how stuck he felt at the time, and how even in his daydreams he was very aware of how trapped and frustrated he felt.

This song is not as sexual as it seems. Jimin said that its about escaping reality to deal with one's wounds. The "she" he is referring to isn't necessarily about a love interest but possibly represents Jimin's Anima. We see a girl whose movements mirror Jimin in the mv, they never meet before Jimin cuts to looking at himself in the mirror. What does the Anima means? - An individual's true inner self that in the analytical psychology of Carl Jung reflects archetypal ideals of conduct. Your anima is the unconscious part of your mind that works automatically, without introspection or awareness. Some psychologists believe your anima affects your dreams, fears, and habits (loop this back to what the song is all about). Also the Anima is an inner feminine part of the male personality. Hence the boy and girl kissing is probably Jimin's masculine and feminine side coming together. The person with muddy hands who grabbed Jimin is Jimin himself. What do the mud represent? I'm not 100% sure, but my own personal reading is its Jimin's depression related to covid (and the lack of live performances which he defined himself to) and long standing anxiety. These are the wounds mentioned but not elaborated by our Mochi. In the mv, Party Jimin is interrupted by the mud and he has to go home to Sad Jimin. Which of the 2 Jimins is in the real world? I haven't figured that out yet :( Maybe both of them are not, hence the dreamlike feel of the mv. Jimin himself asked not to be saved and not to be waken up from the dream. I agree, men, woman, dogs, cats, whoever, if you can't love Jimin, check your pulse. 💜 This song involves Jimin coming to term with his feminine side ( which all men have BTW), and that is fine, and it doesn't make less of a man, or less of anything, it's just him. and he is beautiful! I think we also see his hand with dirt on it when he grabs the girls wrist, I THINK it might imply he got his hands a little dirty with this sentiment, and he doesn't care. I'm guessing here, but that goes with the theme.

Honestly on first listen I wasn't sure about the track (I liked Set Me Free better) but something felt familiar about it. Finally hit me this morning is the video/track vibe reminds me a bit of The Weeknd. The album overall is incredible & takes me on such a ride from euphoric daze (Face-Off/Like Crazy) to crying (Alone) to an adrenaline high filled with hope (Set Me Free). I also find it interesting the English translations are different from the actual English version lyrics. Can't wait to see my bias slay on Jimmy Fallon tonight & whatever else comes from the promo of this. Hope you feel better xx

The way I interpreted the album, based on the lyrics, imagery and what Jimin himself has said; this was an album that touches upon his depression throughout the pandemic as well and his identity. Except for the hidden track (which reads exactly like a love letter. The interview he did on AERA magazine actually points more to him writing it for Jungkook and BTS rather than ARMY), I interpreted the album as him questioning who he is. Rather than alcohol (although it can be a big part of it), it feels like he used to get drunk on the fame and his work, and not that he was without it he was questioning who he was without it. SMF, for example, touches upon how the expectations from outside sources made him suppress a lot of who he was but no longer. n his interviews over the last few days Jimin said that this whole album is inspired by how he was so depressed over the pandemic. He found not performing in front of fans so hard and there are many times over the pandemic there were behind the scenes videos were he said how hard he found performing without fans. He has said the dream he wants to stay in is BTS...so I took this song as a depiction of his anxiety during the pandemic, when they couldn't perform live, and he was feeling lost...he didn't want to be ripped from the dream, wanted to stay lost in the lights (of performing), didn't want the pandemic to break him. And I think the song also speaks of his other struggles, the tussles between his personas, etc. I felt it was so much deeper than I thought at the first listen. He has expressed those emotions so eloquently in his writing and conveyed them so effectively in his voice. Like Crazy is very, very queer coded to me, which is not something new for Jimin, by the way. The way the woman (both in the MV and the choreo) mirrors him, it feels like a fight between femininity and masculinity, with him embracing both in the end. That, along with the inclusion of Mapplethorpe (which he has referenced before in his photopholio) and a hinted at WLW couple, made me relate a lot. As a queer person, the shot of Jimin standing above a video of people kissing striked me as an image with such loneliness, feeling as if love is unattainable for you, not seeing yourself in any of the images of love out there, being alienated of everything people make love to be...Also, the Anima is an inner feminine part of the male personality. Hence the boy and girl kissing is probably Jimin's masculine and feminine side coming together.

Hope you recover asap, dear Luke. You know? My interpretation of the lyrics and MV, within the album context, is dark. I think he's talking about his process of his self knowledge, he tried "crazy" ways. There are Armys that have the theory that the girl at the disco is his feminine side (anima and animus). But at the end he wasn't satisfied with the outcome (dirty hand and sadness in his face)

I truly wish that BTS and the solo members could have radio play, especially here in the UK. For some reason although they have a massive ARMY fan base, the power that be seems to keep quiet about them, music billboard and the grammys ignore these boys even though they are number one?
