안녕하세요! 한국언니예요.
Hello this is Korean Unnie that makes learning Korean fun and easy.
By the way I wanted to say thank you for watching and commenting on my videos because it really motivates me to make videos. I don’t earn money from making these videos I make my Korean Unnie videos because I like helping people and I want to help people who want to learn Korean because I myself had difficulties when I was learning English.
So thank you for supporting me.
I am going to start taking lessons from September to actually get a certificate for teaching Korean I am planning to make a separate video on that. So I wanted to let you know that I am trying to be better and better at teaching Korean and I wanted to say that your likes and comments and sharing really helps and also comments on suggestions for my video really helps because everytime I brainstorm what to make a video about and those comments really give me ideas.
So… back to my episode
Thanks aagain to the comment from Luna Lydia saying
“This video was cute (Thank you~~)
How do you say “I’m busy” or “I don’t have time” in Korean ? “
Thanks for giving me another topic Luna
so today we are going to learn how to say “I am busy” in Korean.
---
I am busy
나 바빠.
Really simple right?
나 I
바빠 busy
나 바빠 I’m busy.
책읽고 있는데 테디가 방해.
쏘냐야 쏘냐야.
아 방해하지마 ~~ 나 바빠.
Now you can emphasize your ‘business’ in a various ways.
나 진짜 바빠.
I’m really busy.
나 정말 바빠.
I’m really busy.
나 너무 바빠.
I’m so busy.
나 완전 바빠.
I’m completely busy. I am not sure if this is even right in English…I am completely busy…in Korea this 완전 is like a adverb that young people use a lot for emphasizing things…, like
오 완전 예뻐
오 완전 멋져
아 완전 대박~~~
Now you learned how to say “I’m busy” we can say this is in another way. Like “I don’t have time”.
I don’t have time.
나 시간 없어.
나 시간 없어.
나 시간 없어.
This phrase is also really simple.
I love this. It’s easy to teach.
Sometimes some Korean sentences are so hard to explain.
나 I
시간 time
없어 don’t have
나 시간 없어 I have no time. I don’t have time.
You can also emphasize this sentence using 진짜 or 정말.
나 진짜 시간 없어.
I really don’t have time.
나 정말 시간 없어.
I really don’t have time.
The 진짜 and 정말 here means ‘really’ but it has more function of emphasizing.
테디가 계속 방해.
쏘냐 쏘냐
아 왜~~
놀자~~
나 바빠!
아 놀자~~~
아 나 진짜 시간 없어!
치!
In this episode of Korean Unnie, you learned how to say “I am busy” and “I don’t have time”. I hope you found it helpful, please give me some likes and comments, they really motivate me and see you next time in another informative Korean video.
그럼 안녕~~
다음에 봐요!

One thing that helped me as an American learning Korean with the "n" and "d" and other consonants was to study how Korean's move their tongue when speaking. I think a lot of people who speak English bring the tip of their tongue to the roof of their mouth when doing the "n" and "d" sound which gives it that stunted sound. However I noticed that in Korean the tongue is kept mostly flat. One I trained myself to do this a few years ago I was told that my Korean accent improved a lot. Don't know if it makes sense but I hope it helps =)

I know this video is more years ago but for the upcoming students of Korean Unnie, maybe I could say that I think the reason why those consonants sounds sometimes the same as the other because they aren't that strong that in the English (or Hungarian) pronounciation, in Korean they sounds more softer and maybe.. nasal? Comparing to what I learnt from my uhh "speak technology"? Is this a thing in English? So there in my mother tongue what's Hungarian, I could describe the difference with these words: soft and bit nasal sounds what I think is true for the whole Korean language? For the ㄹ is the same: in hungarian the R sound is kinda strong and can be obiously distinguished from L, since in Korean words we sometimes could heard it as L or R, it's not said that strongly but with a but "lazy tongoue" xD Idk if this makes any sense or not I hope I didn't make anyone more confused, if you are, just watch the hangul-lessons from our wonderful teacher, Korean Unnie since you're already here:)

When do I use use the particle -neun (는)/-eun (은) and when do I use -ga (가)/-i (이)? I understand that -i and -eun are used when the character before ends with a consonant, but I find the difference between subject and topic particles difficult. Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much for teaching me Korean! :) Edit: Regarding your pronunciation, I can sometimes hear d when you say n in the start of a word, and especially so when you speak that word alone. It is never a t sound, but I have heard d sounds instead of n sounds. One case I particularly remember is in the confession song video (which also was the video I found your channel through), where you tell us guys to use "누나" instead of "오빠", or as it might be percieved, "두나". I remember this particular instance because I searched like a madman for the latter and came up empty handed. In the end I ended up searching for when to use "오빠" and found the opposite to be "누나", and figured that "누나" was what you were saying and simply went on to blame the recording :P. Although I can't remember a particular instance of it, I think I have also heard "대가" instead of "내가" somewhere, when you were saying that word alone. Edit2: I have also noticed that sometimes, m sounds like b. This can be heard in the video about Object - Verb Structure, where the word 머리 is presented. I don't know if it is related?

Thank you for that last bit; I know that must have been at least partially because of the comment I made on your last video. Hearing you say ㄴ so many times in a row did help though. I think it's actually closer to the nasal "n" in languages like French than just the normal English "n", and there does seem to be a little flap of the tongue against the palate, which might explain why to me, it sometimes sounds a bit like a "d", especially at the start of a word. Anyway, that's just the story of a 네덜란드인 (I hope I conjugated that correctly) attempting and failing to understand and recreate Korean sounds. If you were here in the room with me while I try, you'd probably laugh your arse off... :p
@KoreanUnnie
@KoreanUnnie 8 лет назад
Wow you have a lot of linguistic knowledge, I am impressed! That is really interesting, I would love to be in the same room and have this conversation with you!
@rjfaber1991
@rjfaber1991 8 лет назад
한국언니 Korean Unnie Oh, thanks. What makes you say that though? I do know a bit of French, which is why I made that analogy, but that's because here in the Netherlands, secondary school students have to choose either French or German as their third language, and I chose French... I don't really think of myself as somebody who has a lot of linguistic knowledge though. I'm interested in languages, but I don't think I know much about them at all. After all, that's why I'm watching your videos, to enrich my knowledge! The one thing I do always aim to do is to get pronunciation right and try to practice sounding as much like a native as possible, which is why if you heard me talk English, you'd probably think I was British rather than Dutch. Mind you, it did take me more than ten years to get my English accent just right. :p
@KoreanUnnie
@KoreanUnnie 8 лет назад
Because of your professional word choices such as flap, palate etc! :) Normally people don't describe it like that!
@rjfaber1991
@rjfaber1991 8 лет назад
한국언니 Korean Unnie Oh, I see. Well, thank you very much for being so kind! By the way, when I said 네덜란드인, is that the correct way to say "Dutch person"? I saw your video on how to use 인, but all the country names you used in that video ended in a consonant, and as 네덜란드 ends in a vowel, I didn't know if that would make a difference.
@KoreanUnnie
@KoreanUnnie 8 лет назад

okay so rice is "밥"(pronounced as vap) and busy is "바쁜" (pronounced as vabpeun) soo its can be a lill confusing, but rice has only one 'ㅂ' and busy has 2 'ㅂ's. You pronounce rice as vap and busy as vapba and you pronounce the vapba but you pronounce it a bit strongly, and thats it.
