I'm 51. I got my drivers license in 1989. The country was much healthier. Almost everything was better. Smaller population, much cheaper food, gas, housing. Good new music.
@@ethorii People were healthier looking too. Today the average American is shockingly overweight. How do people allow themselves to live this way? Self-respect and dignity are a thing of the past in large swaths of this country.
Man, I love this style of music. I was born in 1990 and was so full of dreams and aspirations. Now it's 2024 and I'm a burnout working 50+ hours a week in healthcare with bleak hopes for the future. Wish we could hit that rewind button, I'd do so many things differently. Sending you all good vibes.
1990 baby also. i wish i could go back in time and change stuff too... but it's actually not too late to change stuff, even now. they don't even have to be big changes; life is like a dollar store, all those small things add up. i'm going back to school this september, i wouldn't tell someone else it's too late, so why tell myself ?
1987 baby here. i feel you on the 90's vibes and missing those times. my humble perspective for what its worth, we miss the 90's because it truly was a much more simple time. the world seemed to not move as fast as it does now. being an adolescent in the 90's felt exciting and everything seemed so interesting and ultimately good things were coming down the pipeline. Now in 2024, just turning 37, I have a son and another son expecting in Sept. I write this to you to let you know life does get better. you grow and mature and learn the silly games life can play on you- but ultimately good times are here in the present. this k mart version of my understanding of life is that try to keep things simple- i don't engage in the fads of social media and whats "trending". take it easy with the smart phone use and screen times. not lecturing you here, but suggestions that ive found helpful to simplify my life. enjoying what i have versus what is programmed to "influence" me of what others think i want. combining these efforts can make you more present and simplify your life.... maybe even mimic a lifestyle we had as kids growing up in the 90's... 1987 baby signing off :) keep it simple
And the TV precariously perched on some kind of cabinet for no reason. What are some of those machines even doing 😅? Joking aside, it's a fun imaginary aesthetic to go with some nice office work tunes ❤.
Hah I was going to say the same thing, also (and AI is way away from dealing with this) her makeup isn't 80s it's far too modern looking. The hair isn't bad 😅
@@moumouchu the entire image makes no sense, nothing on this image makes any sense, from the object, person room, setting lighting everything is wrong, I basically knew from the small thumbnail this is AI crap
I was born in 1989! 👶🏻 I got to experience childhood in the mid 1990s - early 2000’s. It was a great time to be a kid at least here in the USA. We played outside all day. The internet was still in its infancy. We trusted our neighbors. We made eye contact. Human interaction was a real thing. I miss those days. Ignorance is bliss.. we didn’t know the future would be so bleak.
The 1980s, often remembered fondly for its pop culture, vibrant music, and technological advancements, also had its share of challenges and difficulties. Here's a detailed rundown of some significant issues and events that people like you often conveniently forget: Economic Issues 1. Recession and Inflation: The early 1980s saw a severe economic recession in many parts of the world, particularly in the United States and the UK. High inflation rates, unemployment, and a slow recovery process affected many households. 2. Debt Crisis: Many developing countries faced a crippling debt crisis. Latin American countries, in particular, struggled with massive external debts, leading to economic instability and hardship for their populations. Political and Social Unrest 1. Cold War Tensions: The ongoing Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. The threat of nuclear war was a constant concern, highlighted by events such as the Able Archer 83 exercise which brought the world close to a nuclear confrontation. 2. Falklands War: In 1982, Argentina and the United Kingdom went to war over the Falkland Islands. The conflict resulted in significant casualties and heightened tensions in the region. 3. Iran-Iraq War: This prolonged conflict, lasting from 1980 to 1988, caused massive destruction and loss of life. It also disrupted the global oil supply, contributing to economic instability. Health Crises 1. AIDS Epidemic: The emergence of the AIDS epidemic in the early 1980s caused widespread fear and confusion. The lack of understanding about the disease and its transmission led to stigma and discrimination against those affected. 2. Famine in Ethiopia: In the mid-1980s, Ethiopia experienced a devastating famine, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths. The crisis garnered international attention and led to significant humanitarian efforts, including the famous Live Aid concert in 1985. Environmental Issues 1. Chernobyl Disaster: The Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986 was one of the worst nuclear accidents in history. It released a massive amount of radioactive material into the environment, leading to long-term health and environmental consequences. 2. Bhopal Gas Tragedy: In 1984, a gas leak at a pesticide plant in Bhopal, India, caused one of the world's worst industrial disasters. Thousands of people died, and many more suffered long-term health effects. Social Issues 1. Apartheid in South Africa: The apartheid regime in South Africa faced growing international condemnation. The internal struggle against apartheid led to significant violence and oppression, with widespread human rights abuses. 2. Racial Tensions in the US: The 1980s saw significant racial tensions in the United States, marked by incidents such as the 1980 Miami riots and the 1989 Central Park jogger case, which highlighted deep-seated issues of racism and inequality. Technological and Industrial Changes 1. Decline of Traditional Industries: The decline of traditional manufacturing industries, especially in Western countries, led to job losses and economic hardship for many workers. The shift towards a more service-oriented economy was difficult for those affected. 2. Challenger Disaster: In 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster shocked the world. The shuttle broke apart shortly after launch, killing all seven crew members and causing a temporary halt to the US space program. Conclusion While the 1980s are often remembered for their cultural vibrancy and technological progress, the decade also faced significant challenges that affected millions of lives globally. Economic struggles, political tensions, health crises, environmental disasters, and social issues all contributed to making life in the 1980s difficult for many. Just because some individuals may look back with nostalgia, it's important to recognize that not everyone had a good experience, and many faced severe hardships. Reflecting on this complexity reminds us that our memories of "good times" can often overlook the struggles and suffering of others.
@@Funkteon its weird Chernobyl... supposed to be 80,000000000 million thousand years of dead land and no life. Currently, less than 800,00000000 million years later, totally overgrown with green and animals. i think of science being off by that much...
I'm from europe but same here. I remember being outside all day long, with my bike, with my friends, I was selling little stuff to people and knocking at their doors, most of the time they invited me to drink something... nowadays I would be so stressed to do that 😅 ... Im a bit nostalgic
Every comment I've read reflects my own feelings. I was born in 1972. My youngest daughter just graduated from high school. I really wish she had the opportunity to live in a time pre internet and pre cell phone, as I suspect most people commenting here and myself did.
Sometimes when I'm in line at let's say a 7-11, and 17 yo kids are staring at their phones as they wait to pay for something.. I'll say to them... "you have no idea what it's like... to not have to feel like you need to stare at those screens every 20 seconds... it was freedom..." some get it, some don't.
Man, I hear ya on that. Born in 85, had a kid early in life, and my own daughter will graduate high school in 2026. She has a kind of old soul for her age, and I know she would have just loved the transition from 80s-90s-early 2000s with the tech and everything.
As a child of the 90s, I could still feel that optimism during my formative years before the internet took over the world, when we had to make plans beforehand because cell phones were not ubiquitous.
I hope someday science lets us switch lives from time to time, just for a short while; I mean you could swap your consciousness into someone else, and they into yours. Wouldn't that be interesting! Optionally, of course.
Funny you should say that. I remember when 1989 rolled over to 1990. I just turned 30. Still young. But I could swear to heaven I literally felt a shift in life, attitudes, and society. I remember back then thinking that I wish the calendar, times, and society could just stay in 1989. I know that doesn't sound rational. But when you see the best of times ending and feel it. You want to cling on to what brought you so much pleasure. Long live the 80's.
@@mikesaccoia5748 I literally thought I was the only one that felt that way. I'm glad to know I was not alone. I remember listening to Casey Kasem on my portable radio on the front porch swing on a beautiful fall day in 1989. I had so many good memories and 1990 was coming fast. As good as it felt, there was a slight fear to it as well.......I felt that the good times were going to be over now. Not all the good times were over, but damn most of them were. I long for the feeling of that decade.........the optimism, the patriotism, and damn, all of the good music and good times!
this has 80's "struggling against the big city"/"working after hours" written all over it, specially the first track (the best of the bunch in my opinion)
I enjoy all the nostalgic comments about 1989 - yes it was a cool time to be young. I turned twenty that year and was actually going to school in France for my Junior year of college. I was there at the Berlin wall when it "fell" and there was a pervasive optimism that was nearly world-wide. Technology was just beginning to show true promise and the huge future companies like Google were just a few years away. Apple was still 3 years from releasing the I-pod which saved their company and Elon Musk was 17 years old and had just moved to Canada to avoid mandatory conscription into the South African military. An American could travel nearly anywhere, even the middle east as the Gulf War was still a year away. It really was an optimistic moment. Oh that AI generated thumbnail needs to update everything by about 10 years.
The iPod was 13(!) years away. No ipod in 1992. No mp3 format (that came in the late 90s) and no internet either unless you were employed at a university (most students only got internet access via their unis in the mid to late 90s). I got a modem and was on Fidonet and dialled into BBSs in 1993.
I was 6 in 1989 and I can't tell you how much I love these ambient tunes you produce, brings up such a feeling of comfort and happiness. Loved the 80's everything seemed much more simple then, and much more exiting without all the technology of today.
The filtered synth sounds evoke a sensation of memory, but the synth pop hits on the radio in the 80s that would have played in an office were crisp, jangly and angular, the soundtrack to a pressured time of remarkable materialism. I like this music but it evokes a time that never really happened, which maybe makes it more mysterious and dreamy. I never heard those whooshy filters until chill rooms in raves in the ‘90s, which was a place for complete outsiders.
All too right. I'm a big fan of synth- and vapourwave, but it does evoke a fantasy "1980s" that never actually happened. I get the sense a lot of people probably won't believe us when we tell them that the '80s didn't sound like this.
@@ggeemmiinnii Yes, by the 90s we might have heard Nirvana in an office if the radio had a rock station but not The Orb or Boards of Canada. Grunge broke punk to the mainstream but it would have been the late 90s the first time I heard a drum and bass rhythm in a car commercial. Before that in the ‘80s office music would be INXS and Whitney Houston, the popular sounds of the day.
My teenager also is nostalgic for the 80s, mainly thanks to Stranger Things. But if they transported back in time, I think they'd really miss their Roblox friends 😆
Hey guys ! I started a new project (as always I produce everything my self) check it out ❤️ : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Iv_NPZbRoK8.html
Using AI for the photos isn't producing it yourself. AI steals from other artists on the internet and slams it all into a photo. I admire the effort on everything else though.
@@Majeye I use AI mainly for photo realistic images such as the one in this video. It allows me to avoid taking copyrighted pictures without permission. And allows me to focus on my main skill that is is making music. I am not a graphic designer nor a photograph. My first goal is to distribute high quality music. But I completly understand your point.
My 2nd child born Oct 24 89. 35yrs has flown by. Thank you for this very nostalgic trip memory lane via the atmospheric music. We were all younger fitter & positive then! Good luck to us all, the world has changed & we are going to need it.
I truly value your admiration for the 80s, although they didnt sound exactly like this, but it is close enough. The sounds are deep and nothing can compare to it.
1:00 I caught this wave that people write about here.. a mixed feeling of intense sadness for those times and dreams and a tremulous feeling that somewhere there is such a corner of the earth.. but since the same people as me, but from other continents, write here, then this feeling remains only inside us.. But how nice it is, guys.. It was another planet and another world, it seems to me that we were all transferred to another reality from that beautiful world.. what happened to the planet? In Siberia, I can still switch myself to these feelings by leaving for some small town.. P.S. everyone probably has flashbacks from those times, and when they illuminate me, I get goosebumps, it is so nice, it is so mesmerizing and I don’t want to let go of this feeling
Most excellent! This is the best collection of vaporwave I have heard. It gives a feeling of vague memories of a warm summer friday afternoon, school is over, your older sibling workshift has ended and you have a slow cruise through the city towards the ocean with a warm and gently breeze, it feels like you are back somewhen in the late 80s or early 90s. The fashion is broad, everyone feels cool about themselves...
Stuck in the office in 1989? No, I was stuck in school. Or pretending to be sick at school and going to the nurses office so that my mom would get me out. At least that's what I hoped for. The nurse got real tired of seeing me everyday.
I'm just here to sprinkle a little reality check. As a history nut, I like reminding people the world has always been a little chaotic. Many people in the Western world had a great life in the 80s - in some ways it was like a new Day-Glo-drenched working-mom 1950s. But it was also the decade of AIDS, nuclear disasters, and we were still in the Cold War. People behind the Iron Curtain had a completely different 80s experience. Just sayin'! We also have opportunities now we didn't have in the 80s. I make income for my family writing on the internet. If I had a family in the 80s, I'd probably be completely dependent on my husband, like my mom was. My dad had to join the Army because there were no other opportunities for a young family where he was from. The internet has changed everything, folks! If you long for a simpler time, create a beautiful life for yourself and your family as best you can and raise your kids to appreciate all of life's experiences. They'll create the decades to come. We create our experiences now. This music is pretty chill, though. 😄
When I was a kid in the 80's I didn't realize I was living in America's greatest time. A lot of things are amazing now too, but before 2000 it was like a dream.
Wonderful tunes! But, it has to be said, it's too easy to reminisce those 80s/90s with rose tinted memories. Objectively, we have so many improvements today. But for the feeling, the emotion, the world toxicity levels just seems to be more widespread, less isolated/less contained than back then. 46 years now. Wish I could just pay even one visit to my dad in his prime back in the late 80s early 90s, because today he's gone 4 years exactly.
I accidentally landed here, thanks to the retro ness of the cover picture . Then i scroll and read the comments while the music is so familiar .And then i am like wait its my lost tribe, the 80s' 90's . I turned 40 this year. I am lost been old and young. Nostalgia of time when hanging meant meeting your friends and having endless laughs about stupid things. To all of you i want to say , hang in there, the kids need some reference to real stuffs beside likes, memes and followers ! when and if some young people around you implode , tell them about cassete players and videos tapes.
I was 8 in 1989. Spent the Summer with a friend's family at some country club. Long days in the swimming pool, then scraping some coins to play Rush n Attack and Kung Fu at the arcades. Really hard games for an 8-year old.
in 1989 I was 20 and in love with the woman in our office with one leg (I don't think she was A.I. generated). So 1) I guess we didn't mind and 2) I didn't expect to think that much about 1989 today
@PhaedrusAK no matter when you live, there you are. I look at video of the 80s sometimes, and the business signs and cars and clothes look almost exotic now, but at the time, it felt like today feels to us now. In order to see where you are now, you have to be somewhere else later.
this reminds me of old school southern california for some reason. like I'm laying back at the beach gazing at the scenery. about to head back to my low rent venice apartment and smoke a bowl before hitting the scene later that night
As an older Millennial, I am glad I don't have to share a phone line anymore. Also, as a child, I found talking to new friends on the phone pretty nerve-wracking. My daughter just made a new friend and I was "forced" to meet the parent of said new friend. SOooooo much better to text back and forth to set up playdates than to have to actually talk to someone you don't know over the phone 😅
None of those computers or even the TV looks like they are from 1989 though, those are older computers and TV, more early/mid 80s. Also film was no longer used in 1989 either it was Laser-Disc and VHS....shows were often shot on Videotape by then. But I like the playlist and hope you post more videos like this!
Based on our success in the 2nd-Quarter we predict that World Trade stocks and American Airlines will surpass all expectations and then some by mid-September // "I'd like to wager $57 billion that these stocks will crash into the ground." -Those In The Know who are too rich to fail
@@babymurcielaga I would believe the overwhelming majority that enjoy your channel have no issue with the image. I would not worry if I were you -- let them be angry at nothing.
@@babymurcielaga just wanted to say that I loved the mix and the picture; regarding the comments, I think mostly people are just discussing stuff, but perhaps sometimes not in a very kind manner... but you shouldn't worry about it! Have a great day, and thank you for making ours more pleasant!
This sort of synthwave and chill electro is more related to the early eghties, up to 1985-6. By 1989 things were quite into the 1990s already - beats, pianos, C&CMusic Factory/Technotronic vibes.
Was it really better in the past than it is now? I dare to doubt that. The 1980s in particular sowed what is now being reaped with the strong tendency towards individualism that was created by neoliberal leaders such as Reagan and Thatcher. With today's problems and conflicts as the end result and the technological development that has made it so easy for us to stay in our individual bubble. What was indeed better in the past was the music that was developed, innovations in fashion, art and culture and the sense of community, but on the other hand there were also extremely hard periods where there were also wars, government cuts, sky-high unemployment, cities in decline, crime that was not inferior to today, the industries that were from then on outsourced to low-wage countries and the then emerging economies of Asia. Everything we see and experience today was created when we supposedly grew up in the good times and are nostalgic about it.
