Nostalgia for something that never happened.....

One quiet night, about six years ago, I was working a late night shift, alone in my office, and the RU-vid algorithm placed me this mix in my playlist. I am forever grateful for that moment.

i like to listen synthwave in dark, only street lights are on, when everyone is sleeping and your are just sitting in your balcony, wearing headphones, no one is speaking, no noises, pure silence

Crazy to think that this playlist is almost 5 years old. I've listened to this through relationships, good times and bad, countless flights and train rides, i can honestly cry due to the sheer amount of memories and emotions that come just from the first few seconds of this. To everyone who's studying with this music: Checklist: • A bottle of water, at least 1 liter. Your brain works better if it has enough water and drinking helps you to concentrate 💦 • Your charger. You sometimes don't even notice that your device's battery is going down, so better have it plugged in all the time 🔋 • Your headphones. You will be able to focus more with headphones, because it blocks background noises. Also, if it's a late night study session, you won't wake up anyone, 🎧 • a tea or coffee. Coffee keeps you awake, green or black tea can make you feel more awake as well. ☕ • Your study/work stuff: your laptop/tablet/ phone, a few pens, paper or whatever you need. 📖 Anything else you could need, what about a heat pad, a blanket, a good lamp, your pet so you have a study buddy 🐕 Reminder: After an hour, you should stand up and walk a bit around. Better stop the music or put on different music for the break. Open your window, even if it's cold outside. Fresh air will make it better, trust me. You could also lay your head down on your desk for ten minutes and listen to a podcast. Or, if you have to read a book, listen to the audiobook of it. You can also listen to the audiobook while doing another thing, that's even better than listening to music while reading the book. I hope y'all had a good day, if not, that's okay too. Please tell me I'm not alone in this thought. Ever since I started listening to synthwave, chillwave, dreamwave.. I feel a strange, but welcoming sense of calm. It's hard to explain. My coworkers, friends and family have said I seem more calm and relaxed. I'm not quick to anger anymore. I'm also having a hard time relating to people lately unless we talk about life, the universe, evolving... I have so much more to write and describe but I just can't put it into words. All I know is my anxiety and depression has lifted and I'm very inspired lately too. Anyone else feel like this?

Imagine driving lonely during sunset on an empty straight road in the middle of the desert with this music, the calm, the feeling of peace with the world, no one can touch you, in that moment you are happy, you, your car, your music and the orange of the last sun reflecting on the desert

Synthwave makes me feel calm but, for some reason, it also makes me feel a deep sadness... Like a very strong nostalgic feeling I can't explain

For anyone who comes back to this, it seems a good time to say Rest In Peace to Vangelis, the composer of the original blade runner soundtrack, he had a huge impact on this kind of music and will never be forgotten

There is something uniquely appealing about Vapourwave & Synthwave. I can’t explain it. It’s very far from my usual “aesthetic” but I’m falling more in love with it by the day.

I remember listening to this in 2018 when it came out. I would stay super laate at my library until closing (12am-1am ish) and just do physics and program to this music. Now its nothing but nostalgia. Thanks for getting me through my exams. Efence-Spaceflight is the one soundtrack that kept this on repeat for me.

inspiration for those who are willing to read it. instead of being embarrassed about even trying, be proud that you are strong enough to keep going on even how difficult or even impossible it may look. the only thing limiting you is yourself. don't get peer pressured to give up because you think you aren't good enough. you are more than enough. instead of folding to the mold be your own self even if at sometimes it looks like you can't do basic shit you can excel in what you want. just take the time and keep working.even if you don't notice you will get better and better after each failure. you only truly fail if you give up. you always have a choice, don't choose to do nothing. think outside the box. just because one way doesnt work dont resort to quitting. have a good day. :D

Synthwave is such a complex genre. You can feel lonely and sad but happy and comforting at the same time. It is one hell of a feeling. Wish I was born in the 80’s!

I have never listened to a compilation of music more than I have this. I have it on my phone or I simply let it play here over and over again. Its my dose to cope with this life, and the first song, Slow, will forever be one of the greatest songs I have quite literally ever heard
