Homelander is one of the best tragic villains, literally along the lines of Darth Vader. Taken away from their parent (Solider Boy/Shmi), Raised by an entity instead of a loving family in order to reach their "full potential" (Vought/Jedi order), being told that they were special (The perfect hero/ Chosen one), some seeing the evil fostering inside them (Vogel Bom, Stan Edgar/ Mace windu), and then being corrupted because of the need for love (Mandolin Stilwell, Black Noir, The love of the Crowd/ Padme, Shmi)
This edit, showcasing moments where homelander doesnt speak and only reacts, does two things for me: 1. It shows how good Antony Starr is as an actor. From a blank stare you can tell exactly what the character is thinking and going through 2. This shows homelanders character in a much more reserved light, his smaller moments of contemplation rather than his angry outbursts. The Boys is a very fast paced show, so stepping back to see his character like this really makes you think about how geniusly hes written
