Durga Puja: A Celebration of Divine Feminine Power
Durga Puja is one of the most significant festivals celebrated in India, particularly in the eastern states of Bengal, Assam, and Odisha. It is a nine-day festival that commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. The festival is marked by great fervor, devotion, and cultural exuberance.
The Legend of 𝘿𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙖
The legend of Durga revolves around the demon Mahishasura, who had become invincible due to a boon granted by the gods. After a prolonged struggle, she finally vanquished the demon, restoring peace to the world.
The Nine Nights of Durga 𝙋𝙪𝙟𝙖
The nine nights of Durga Puja, known as the Navratri, are each dedicated to different aspects of the goddess. The first three nights are dedicated to Goddess Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, the next three nights to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and the final three nights to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

Sandhi Puja: A special puja performed at the moment of the goddess's victory over the demon.
Bhog: A feast offered to the goddess and then shared among the devotees.
Immersion: The final day of the festival, when the idol of the goddess is immersed in a river or pond, symbolizing her return to her heavenly abode.
