Actually, trying to learn a new language needs motivation and Pekora with HoloJP is the motivation for Moona to learn JP (in contrast HoloJP also learns English to communicate with HoloID because HoloID debuts before HoloEN but now for both). It's pretty good for all of Hololive members try to learn new languages or improve their skill.

0:18 Towa just accidentially hit her with the complexity of Japanese numbers there lol The number 4 can be either "yon" (Japanese reading) or "shi" (Chinese reading). So both things Towa said are correct, it was just confusing for a beginner like Moona. The usual way people learn counting 1-10 in Japanese is "ichi, ni, san, yon, go, roku, nana, hachi, kyu, juu". The weird part here is that these are all Chinese readings, except for "yon" and "nana" The Chinese readings would be "shi" and "shichi" and you CAN use them, it’s just a little less common. The Japanese readings are instead used to combine with counting words, such as "tsu" which is kind of the default counter: "Hitotsu, Futatsu, Mitsu, Yotsu, Itsutsu, mutsu...". But there are also more specialised counters like "hon" for long round objects (like chopsticks and pencils) or "mai" for flat objects like sheets of paper and dinner plates. A particularly cool one that you can use to flex on Japanese people is the quick count system that only uses the first character of each Japanese reading: "Hi, Fu, Mi, Yo, Itsu, Mu, Nana, Ya, Ko, To", which can for example be used when counting coins at a cash register.
