She can be excused for singing in English as she has to appeal to the biggest audience possible. Dua Lipa, Rita Ora have Albanian heritage and sing all their songs in English. I have a funny feeling Besa will sing a verse or chorus in Albanian at Eurovision in May.
Albanian 'heritage' is not the same as some born or grown up in Albania. Albania has enough native performers so no need to claim others who grew up and got their opportunities elsewhere.
That has nothing to do with this tho cuz those singers werent born in Albania/Kosovo and at Eurovision Albania tends to do better when singing in Albanian
Great reaction, fully agree about the original version, wish she kept some Albanian parts of the song to be honest. Looking forward to all of your other reactions!
Top 10...Top 5 quite possible, Winner? Might! I like the song, not too original but very "Eurovisionnable" (Not my fav but i would vote for her in my List.)
I have both versions in my Eurovision 2024 playlist, but I’m definitely partial to the original just because I really like a lot of the instrumentation of the original, but I do like some parts of the revamp like the sped up part in the end. Also I don’t speak Albanian so hearing the English lyrics made me realize the intensity of the vocals are really expressing an awesome message which I am glad will resonate with more people due to English being so widely understood by the viewing audience. That said, I do miss the Albanian chorus at times and would love it if at the contest she switches back and forth to singing the chorus in English and Albanian even during the revamp. I definitely think the live performance will be really good because she seems to have great stage presence regardless of which version she would sing and whatever language she sang in. I remember the first time I heard the song I didn’t remember a lot about the song itself other than the rhythm of the chorus (because it gets repeated a lot) and that I felt engaged to keep listening and happy-sad when the song concluded (sad because I was really into it, but happy because it had what felt like a solid, real ending like how a good story being told to you ends….I’ll admit that I don’t like songs that stop abruptly and songs that feel like they never end and so “fade” out). When I watched the live performance I enjoyed her passion and expressions while singing and how she draws you into her singing even though I didn’t know what she said. When I first heard the revamp I was a bit upset that the instrumentation had changed so much, but like I understand that the Eurovision setup is different and usually I don’t like when a song I like in a language is switched, but this is definitely an exception. I probably wouldn’t miss the Albanian so much if I hadn’t been listening to the first version so much, but I don’t hate the English. In fact, I think the English used works really well with the music to convey the message and she makes it feel natural. Like if I didn’t know the song was originally in Albanian, she definitely could fool me to thinking they wrote it originally in English because she just sells this song. I agree, I think it’ll qualify if the staging is good and with her stage presence alone I think they don’t have to do too much to have good staging at the contest.
Thanks guys, love the reaction! Peronally I prefer the original version because the text is more meaningful but also just flows better as lyrics and the song feels more intense whereas the production on the studio track seems a little empty/sharp here and there. Basically you already said it all! Dont really know what to think which version would've done better at Eurovision but I wish they kept the power of the orchestra.
Guys that is a live orchestra!!! No one is miming! The festival has a tradition for more than 65 years that includes a live orchestra and only live singing allowed. But since 2004 Albania joined Eurovision and from then just for the final of the festival the orchestra is not playing ( singing is still live) to be at par with eurovision format ( no orchestra in euroviosion). This reaction is the wining performance but the orchestra is definitely live. Sorry for over explaining it! ❤❤ Greetings from Albania!
no you guys aren't funny.... you're hilarious haha so funny. ANYWAY, Albania has been proven this theory. Keep the song in Albanian, qualify. Translate the song into English, not qualify. Unless your Elhaida Dani where she sent her original song in the bin and came up with a new one. I don't know if this will break the rule Semi Final 2, quiet as it kept, might actually be the hard semi final to get out of. It's got a hard hill to climb. #NotASkiMask
It’s live orchestra and she sings live in our fik is a must live singing and orchestra, by the way when you speak about language you better google at least you can google about it not to sound an ignorant.
In the revamp her performance seems a bit Beyonce influenced. Not that it is a problem. But Eurovision always has some entries that are heavily influenced by other works. Personally I think that the original version is much more interesting.
I assume you're not going to react to revamps of songs you've already listened to? Luxembourg made a revamp for the Eurovision version (I'm sure you already know), and while the song is still my favorite, I think it sounds a bit worse than the original. I guess it was needed for her vocals, but curious to hear your thoughts with or without a video of it.
To actually comment about this song: I don't hate the English version, but the Albanian version is better. :) Still comfortably close to my top 10 despite being somewhat dull.
@@Ninterd2 At least I like their revamp more than the one for Malta. This is quite similar. And also, contest aside, you can just listen to the version you prefer. I wish Malta would release the original version as well because I would keep listening to that. Not quite so sure about the new one. Oh, well.
@Leifdk1 Yes, I was happy that a lot of the song didn't change. *Unfortunately* what changed was to me the more interesting parts of the song. Still an 11/10 for me haha. But I don't know if I've heard Malta's revamp actually. I'll check it out.
I don't think so. They seem to be reacting in random order. And it's taking them quite some time to react to all of the songs. I'm also impatiently waiting for Switzerland. xD
The geopolitical influences and votes don't looks the "language" ... English or Albanian version is the same. Albanian have sent before even better songs in Albanian language and we have seen the results. All this bla bla bla about the language are justifications...if u like the song just vote it but if u like the song but u don't want to vote it for X reasons than don't blame the singer, the language or the lyrics...people must be coherent not hypocrite ✌
I don’t know. Somehow this sounds like a bunch of other Albanian entries. It’s fine but a little… clunky? Also, I don’t like the chorus. The chorus sounds very much like another song but I can’t quite put my finger on which song it is. For me it’s just ok and I struggle to remember it. Repeated listens did nothing to change my mind but perhaps the live performance will?
I thought yall as music experts would clock how cheaply produced the revamp studio cut sounds. Some of the English lyrics are clunky and it lost its charm during the rap.
