Thanks for the video. We followed your advice and we crossed the border into Georgia yesterday (2nd June) so can definitely confirm it is still open! Completely empty - they had to unlock all the gates for us ! Easiest border crossing ever

Gr8 vlog mate...good to have confirmation that the border is open. I actually called the AZ Embassy in Canberra and they told me that it is open for foreigners to leave, but not for Azeri's. We're also doing the trip Sheki/Signaghi, and since there are 3 of us, will prob aim for a driver to get us to the border and then pick up another car on to Signaghi. Thanks again for the tips!
Thank you for this video! I've had a trip planned for some time put on a back burner as I want to cross by land. Originally I wanted the overnight train, but marshrutka will work.
@@falsehorizons For sure. Marshrutkas can be very exciting. I took one to and from Tiraspol in the Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic last year. Was like an hour long chicken race. 😅 Will still get some train riding anyway as I'll take the overnight from Tbilisi to Yerevan where I'll fly home from. Looking at flights right now.
@@falsehorizons Oh, just a quick question. When you crossed the border, how did you pay the taxi? Did they have an ATM directly at the border or did you have some Lari with you already.
@@Minnesinger1 from memory there was an ATM once you got through to the Georgian side of the border crossing. I'd maybe exchange something into Lari while in Azerbaijan just to make sure you can get your taxis and Marshutkas onwards. If that ATM was broken I'd probably have been in a spot of bother...
The border from Georgia into Azerbaijan is closed. It is only open in one direction which is exiting Azerbaijan to enter Georgia. To enter Azerbaijan you can only enter by air.
We are also planning to cross the border from sheki to sighnagi Is it open for all nationalities? Do you have any idea of road conditions during the month January?
You'd have to check your nationalities eligibility to enter Georgia on a tourist Visa as to whether you can cross the border or not. Getting a visa upon arrival is pretty much the normal for most nationalities entering Georgia. As far as I'm aware the roads remain open in winter and you shouldn't have any problems other than being very cold! Best of luck 👍

That sounds like a fun adventure! Yes the border is open to leave Azerbaijan into Georgia, it's just going into Azerbaijan that things get a bit tricky.

Hey mate. I doubt that Azerbaijan will be opening any of its land or sea borders anytime soon. Unfortunately there's very little information online re the land border opening. If I were you I'd try to get in contact with the Azerbaijan embassy. You could also send a Whatsapp msg to +7 708 712 7016. This was a number given to me when I was trying to find out if I could arrive into Azerbaijan from Kazakhstan by boat. He was very quick at getting back to me so could be worth a shot. Good luck 👍
very strange that you "know" much about so called propaganda story of Azerbaijani's but do not talk about grounds of conflict, ethnic cleansing happened in Qarabag region, million of refugees, extinction of Azerbaijani heritage in Armenia prior beginning of the conflict and talking only about one side's wishes. So strange selectivity.
Very strange that you didn't understand what he said in the video prior to posting your comment. I have to agree with him. I'm currently in Şəki and what he said is true. I'm sure he "knows" a lot more, but as he said, he didn't want to go in depth with the war.

He is not 1st or last person to have one sided approach to the conflict due to many reason and totally denying nature and source of problem. Your location in Şəki does not prove what he said and what I know. I am live witness all the story behind but not ordinary propaganda consumer.
