They did artwork with the hair they collected. Look up Mourning Pictures and Victoria Hair Art. And the yellow china is a butter chiller. (It was beside the green container that you said a lid was missing)
Yes! Victorian hair art is spectacular. I used to collect mourning jewelry and had more than a few pieces with hair in them. The large pictures are to die for! I love the resourcefulness that the hair receivers represent. They even used it for stuffing little projects like pincushions, and for adding back into their own fancy, bouffant hairstyles! Love a low waste mentality. 😊 And yes! The little butter crock was sweet. A little chipped up though. I'm on the hunt for a nice one for myself! Thanks for watching and commenting. 💖
