The 80s is great. We've got lots of footage of Toronto in July 1997 from our holiday to there from England. Might put in on RU-vid sometime. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the city at that time.
when all of the mall art was still intact Kites in the atrium, smaller fountains inside the mall (and the one in the Lobby of the Cadillac Fairview Tower) Hot air balloons by the HBC entrance
Yes! I have deep memories of going to the Eaton's Centre in the late 70's through the mid-90's, I can't even begin to explain how I'm washed over with sensory auras that come forward when I experience good memories from this age. There's some subconscious extra dimension of emotion that comes forward that says "I'm home", and it's far more expansive and colourful than even reality is today.
But no offense, and just for the record now it is all cold and sterile as if someone only spent only 6 years in OCAD. Whereas the previous design was created by some who studied in OCAD at least 30 long bitter years
@@alexanderip1003 It's more crisp and clean now. Back then stores didn't have paneling to hide the old crumbling brick out front, there were shops openly selling jack knives, bongs and fake I.D.'s, and there were adult video stores everywhere.
I went there a number of times and loved it except the very high levels due to my far of heights. It was was safe and interesting. Great days we'll never see the likes of again. IN 1983 I worked at Eatons in Bramalea as we called it.
I go to this mall every day and live 5 minutes away. The amazing part is it's mostly all the same now, just people and fashions and stores have changed from the video but the structures and placements are all the same. The last part is called "Queens Cross Food Hall" and they just brought it back last week! Looks exactly like the vid. It's awesome! 😁
Not sure what floor it was on, the toy floor in the Sears building in the early or late 70's every toy was on display and it was hands on.Race sets and train sets we could have control of them . I remember playing Atari in sears.
In the 1950's there was an underground pathway between Eatons and Simpsons. There you could buy ice cream sandwich and honeydew drinks. I also remember seeing a display of cans of paint. I was a kid.
Hello there! Mind if I use a few clips from this video in a story I'm working on about Canada's Eaton Centres? Huge credit to your channel both on and off screen of course. Thanks for your time!
In the direction facing towards where The Bay used to be. Wasn't there a small rectangular fountain with mini geysers? Located where there is a diagonally positioned ramp, again in the direction going to where The Bay used to be? Also, is there any photo or video of the diamond fountain that used to be at the lower level where the food court is today?
