While we have Eng/Fre on signs almost everywhere - something like a light switch is too small to have both official languages so often they resort to cryptic pictures. Elevator buttons don't read "Open/Ouvrir" instead they're just "" I see a button with a moon on it "Ok, that's some sort of nightlight/night button"

@@CanuckJim @6:05 Kuga states that the train crew also thought the light is broken. But on second thought: maybe it was a misunderstanding and they actually meant the tiny night-light in the ceiling that usually comes on with this button.

The direct from Zurich to Budapest is made on MÁV wagons, and has a significantly lower standard than ÖBB. This said, the price is quite appealing, you can have a 3 people cabin for roughly 100EUR (per pax), and the beds/pillows are comfy.

Indeed. It's taken years for them to be manufactured. Initially used on routes to S Europe.

@@kirilmihaylov1934 New sleepers enter service in 2023. The carriage Kuga travelled on was previously operated by DB. When DB quit night trains some years ago (because of lack of profits) these double deck carriages were sold to OEBB.

These are ÖBB owned ex-CNL cars which are being operated by ÖBB ever since they pulled out of CityNightLine, more than 20 years ago. The story you wrote belongs to the other sleeping car type - so-called "Comfortline" - and some old couchette cars.

At my height, my experience with berths was they were enormous in Switzerland, in Germany, in the Netherlands, and in all the Scandinavian countries, kinda normal-sized in France, and criminally tiny in Italy, Portugal, and Spain, where I could never find a blanket that would simultaneously cover my shoulders and my feet, whether on a train or in a hostel.

@@kirilmihaylov1934 Rolling stock was originally made for DB. However when DB quit the night train business its night train stock was acquired by Austria's OEBB.

He said the train was fully booked. Switch to what cabin if is fully booked. And aparently no one knew to use that light, because he switch them on about half time in the video

It depends on what comfort class you choose, and how long in advance you buy the tickets. Seating car starts at 29€, a couchette bed in a shared compartment starts at 49€, and a single-occupancy sleeper cabin will start at 149€. Prices will go up with time, as the train fills up. Pro tip: When booking on this specific route compare prices for the 2 parts of the train that go to Vienna. NJ467 (to Vienna) and NJ40467 (to Budapest) are separated in Salzburg, but the part to Budapest also passes through Vienna. It even arrives there earlier (less stops in Austria, so that it has more time for the rest of the way to Budapest). Depending on the occupancy of the separate parts prices can be very different. And if you need to arrive in Vienna very early then chose a _seating_ car, as those will form the first day train (EC463) from Salzburg and arrive in Vienna over an hour earlier than the rest of the cars!

Hey, Amtrak's not as bad as people make it out to be. This year I've been on 2 overnight trips on Amtrak and both were extremely enjoyable

They're using the names that the towns have in their country. It seems respectful to me, considering Kuga's Travel is not a native English speaker. And a lot of viewers aren't either. So why change it for only part of the viewers? Using the true names seems the most logical to me. If they don't know the place, they can Google the name and learn something.

@@plumdutchess Kuga subtitles the videos for an english audience. While I believe saying Wien is acceptable, also I'm German, I understand the request to use vienna.
