I’m Dominican but I grew up in the hood in the Bronx NY and Chicago. I feel way safer in DR! As long as you don’t act like a goofy out there and don’t flaunt your money like a fool, you’ll be good. If you’re respectful to the people that live there, they’ll show you love.
Ronin, my brother, your advice is priceless. I have been to the DR a few times, Blending in is the way to go. It keeps a lot of suspicious eyes off you.
Golden advice...i also take care of the guard wherever im staying and slip a few to the doorman at the club. i have a driver i deal exclusively with. If i get money at a certain ATM on the regular where there is an armed guard, slip them a little something, even if its a sandwich, a drink or few pesos. They will remember. I also agree not to go to certain areas unless you know someone back there and are in the area for a specific reason. Its on all of us as visitors to leave the room clean for the next person.

Im dominican i go 3 time a year do dr first rule trust no one anyone sale you out to the stickup kids when they know u from out of town 2nd rule dnt floss money or other goods you could loose your life 3rd rule dnt go out with alot of money just go out with wat u going to use for that day, 3rd and last rule dnt go to barrios or hoods to meet up with a mangoe or a woman meet them in a bussy street or a mall.If you follows this rules you’ll have a good time in dr and not get into a any BE. 👍
Unfortunately i fell victim to 1st rule… woman set me up to be kidnapped and robbed, thankfully i made it out alive and safe overall. But with that being said dont trust ANYONE and do not hop in “uber” ordered from anyone but you

in the DR i have been all over and it is safe.( but i dont go looking and know where to stay away from unless being invited. there are codes and rules in those type areas) DR is not even on the top ten list. just know your surroundings where you will be staying. in the the States everywhere is a hot spot if you ask me.(the code/rules are gone) the violent crime in the US is out of control. rape ,robbery, school shootings, murder, even entitled airplane passengers and Karens have gotten in the mix.
