Tourists get more ripped off by the taxi-bicycles in Central London not to mention the pickpocketing that's now rife. At least you're been potentially fleeced a few quid relatively, it's not unknown the taxi-bicycles in London charging hundreds, but then they'd get arrested! Cheers!
We are aware this sort of thing goes on all over the world but we will raise awareness on situations like this , countries rely on tourism so why intentionally over charge , we do our homework and to be told $10 for a taxi that we know is 100 egp ,,,
We always find out a price before getting in any taxi in advance via other people or media sites and always ask the taxi driver to confirm the cost before we get in and if it matches what we know it will be that's fine but if we know it's well over , we leave it and walk away , many times they will come down at each step u walk
@neamashenavar1828 no the ones we used wernt metered but we were told no more than 150 egp and that's from Naama bay , and you can get it down to 100 if u offfer that
If you find the WiFi isn’t upto scratch I always buy a sim card from orange at Hurghada airport, it’s around £5 for 50GB Data which has got me through the week, even better it can be used anywhere when out and about
Thats why i only use local buses in sharm apart from being much cheaper prices are in window you can go from old market to Nabq bay about 19 miles about 19 miles for about 20p / 25 cents per person, they take just as quick as taxi cause once the bus is full what is like a 16 seater the driver puts his foot down you can wave the buses down anywhere and they come all the time , ok as a tourist do not expect change so from Nabq bay to Farsha bar what is away past old market about 21 miles i just went on handed him 40 egp (£1) for the 2 of us said Farsha in taxi even in barter expect to pay as a tourist about 500egp around (£13}
Hi Glasgow , Very useful information there , we haven't ventured on the local buses , we used a taxi from our hotel which was 200egp return which is cheapest we paid , we have a vlog to show on this , very good service aswell 👍
@@petenchelleuk do a blog on un local buses getting about , where i can recommend take a trip at night to a Farsha bar , if shopping go to Namma there is a shop called Egyttian Lionel Ritchie it is priced marked and very cheap so no haggle needed , go to Danneer in Namma for a meal 2 large t bones with chips and side and couple of drinks around £20 , ice bar in sharm entry with drink £10 and Nabq tours they have a website for cheap trips
yes but its about a 12 min walk up to the main road from there to namma get on bus pay 5egp to namma its about 12km and 10 egp to old market and 5 egp to Nabq bay @@melekd.9543
Definitely todd. Despite the savage mosquitoes and our incident at our hotel we would consider a return to Egypt but maybe not back to the same hotel and yes we would recommend. If you've never been then try it out 👍
Hi mate we're going in July we were there 16 years ago bairn was only 3. Trying to much research as possible because we never left the hotel with the little one.
It's a safe enough area Pat. there's a few security check points about but we didn't have any issues well apart from the issues we had in the hotel with the beach towels .it's like anywhere you travel just keep yourwit's about you
Sounds like a complete rip off, just like the black caps in London, if you ever get into one who charge double the normal taxi. And atleast this guy didnt ask for tip as well, unlike the Black Cap drivers in London.These black cabs are a real rip off.
@alikhan-ri5ye it's like anywhere in the world you have to be careful and have your brain switched on. also some local knowledge of areas prior to arriving can be helpful
When Anne and I were there a few years ago I was offered 6 camels for Anne………..seriously thought about (joking)Mind you I could have offered camel rides up and down the beach outside !!!!
Hi Silvias no it’s not a lot of money to us at all but no one should be paying more than they should for a service , if people were to get 10 cabs a weeks the extra charge would mount up , this is why we are showing ,, dont allow locals to take advantage of a traveler
@@petenchelleuk what do u expect being in second world country? hes tryna make a living and ur upset about paying £9, youre making a bigger deal out of it than it is. they arent bad people they are just making a living. like i said bro its £9
@DanP221 there's a huge difference between making a living and trying to rip someone off. Even some of the staff in our hotel said the same about it and advised us not to use them .by the way we've experienced this similar situation in many countries around the world and its definitely a Rip off but thanks for your comment 👍 Would you be happy to pay £9 for a £2 journey ?
We love to walk but we needed to get back to our hotel rather quick on this instance and we hadn’t been here very long so unsure how far it was to walk
