Thank you for the question, it makes more sense to say 7aga tani ofcourse, but since that's a very common question we just make it shorter and that's the reason behind it, you can also see that we made it shorter from (enta 3ayez 7aga Tania?) to (7aga tani?)

Hello Henry thank you for taking the time to write your opinion, my name is Yahia :) When it comes to English / French vowels I don’t take them as a reference to be honest as they are not consistent and their system keeps changing, i amnot sure how familiar you are with Slavic languages but they are way more consistent, the sound (o) is always (o) and the sound (I) will always stay (I), also in English the double letters make a difference in the sound or for example when you add “a” after “e”, the same happens sometimes with words having (o-u) like “move - prove) they sound like (u), so if I have to pick a language to avoid the vowels problem I would better pick Serbian for example. - Also English itself is different based on the accent so that’s another point that different English speakers will pronounce the same word differently. - The word bayt sounds like bayt in formal Arabic but if you ask me how the ending sounds in Egyptian it will be more of (eight - ate), which again looks very different in English. - I also amnot sure if you are Native or not but when we speak in normal speed you wouldn’t be able to tell if it is a mesh or a mish, however I would argue that it is more mesh rather than mish. - Languages have different systems when it comes to vowels as I assume you know since you research this topic :) English is different than French than Serbian and I have seen the way my students pronounce them differently in my classes, therefore if I accept those changes you are recommending, another student from a different background will also argue that for him these are completely wrong sounds.

Both are correct actually but that's a very good question :)

Sayyid is originally an Arabic word, and it's used more in formal Arabic, fandem is from Turkish origins and it is used more in the Egyptian dialect :) Also sayyid can be feminized, so you could say sayyida, but fandem is constant for both :)
