La Mota Castle (Medina del Campo)
Located in the town of Medina del Campo, this is one of the largest towers in Castile. It was used as fortress, and was at one time a strategic military centre.
The castle has a trapezoid floor plan. The fixed bridge at the main entrance was once a drawbridge. Once across the bridge, there is an arch with two turrets and the royal coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs. The interior has four towers with a courtyard, around which the different parts of the building are arranged. It was used as the Royal Archive during the reign of Henry IV. Given its enormous dimensions, it was also put to military use as an arsenal for artillery, and was one of the objectives of the Royalists in the uprising of the communards in the 16th century. It served as a prison for personages of note during the 16th and 17th centuries, and at one time played host to Juana la Loca. In 1942, after the Spanish Civil War, it became a training school.

Castillo de la Mota (Medina del Campo)
Situado en la localidad vallisoletana de Medina del Campo, es uno de los castillos con mayores dimensiones de Castilla. Se utilizó como fortaleza y en su tiempo era un centro estratégico militar.
La planta del castillo tiene forma trapezoide. La entrada principal se presenta con un puente fijo, antaño levadizo. Una vez se cruza el puente se observa un arco con dos torretas y escudo real de los Reyes Católicos. El interior está compuesto por cuatro torres con un patio, en el que se distribuyen las estancias de la edificación. Fue archivo de la Corona en el reinado de Enrique IV. Se le dio un uso militar y como almacén de artillería, dadas sus enormes dimensiones. Será uno de los objetivos de los realistas en el alzamiento de los comuneros en el siglo XVI. Sirvió como prisión de personajes ilustres de los siglos XVI y XVII, y albergó en sus dependencias a Juana la Loca. En la posguerra de la guerra civil, a partir de 1942, se erige como escuela de formación.
