I bricked my x99 mobo trying to unlock the bios... Bought a ch341a programmer and followed this video, now my mobo works fine again! Thank you very much!
i guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
That's clearly best guide for me. My Hp 7200 MT workstation's bios had corrupted. I tried many ways to fix it, but failed. Finally, without desoldering, i followed your guide and made all steps. Your guide brought it back to life:) I appreciated. Thank you so much.
Thanks for your work. It’s easy to see the love that you have for technology, and for sharing it. You are helping a lot of people ^^ I hope it returns double as you give. Have a nice weekend :) and keep doing that you love, you are doing great 🙌✨😁
@@MrMalam1234bricked the bios on my gigabyte b450m ds3h while trying to enable secure boot for win 11, because i kept going fast in the bios menu 😂, but i reflashed the bios with the ch341a and everything is perfect 👌
Man i really appreciate what you doing. I studying those things and this is really good , short and simple explanation. Much appreciated and good luck to you ❤❤
Another satisfied customer. With this vid and others, I was able to un-brick an asrock a320m mother board that I was trying to update normally for a ryzen 5700g.
Excellently presented video for peeps like me who need to be talked through each phase to complete the job. I will add to this comment when my USB Flash Programmer arrives. Once again thanks for a complete tutorial for this process.
This item is helping me with badly modified bios. I tried to change the logo of Asrock G41M-VS3. Didn't boot afterwards but I flashed it using file from official asrock site. It worked again.
thanks so much for this video. Helped me to update bios after black screen after undervolting on Gigabyte g5 kc. I did not believe it, until i saw first message on screen. But I had interesting problem, that it could not connect with usb3, but it worked with usb 2 connector ...
Heads-up for those wanting to flash a bricked old X58 motherboard (Gigabyte X58A UDR3 Rev 2.0 here), I had no luck using AsProgrammer1.4.1, but was able to successfully flash my BIOS chip using CH14AProgrammer ver. 1.1.1.3.2.
@@Miyconst No problem. Ironically this was an Aliexpress refurbished board that the seller explicitly stated on the listing "Updated to the latest BIOS for maximum CPU compatibility"... didn't POST or put out any signal at all, tried absolutely everything you could think of... eventually I decided I may as well get a BIOS Flash Programmer tool as a last resort (return period had already passed before I tested the board as it looked very clean and like new) as I suspected the seller did not actually update the BIOS which would prevent my Xeon X5675 from being recognised... and what do you know... as soon as I flashed the BIOS the system worked perfectly haha... I think the lesson to be learnt is do not trust Aliexpress sellers to always be honest.
Most new chinese motherboard come with Winbond 25Q128JVSQ. What program do you use to flash it, because even CH341A 1.40 does not have that bios model listed.
You skipped one step, before starting to work with AsProgrammer, need to install CH341A drivers on PC, where u configuring new bios. Thanks for your vid, very helpful!
Thanks - managed to restore a functional BIOS to an otherwise bricked motherboard because of this video. FYI the ASprogrammer software had some pretty serious graphics distortions on my display, but functionally it worked perfectly even so- might be reassuring for others to know. Thanks again
Good tutorial However, to clear CMOS you just use the jumper as indicated on the motherboard OR you remove the battery but not BOTH. The program FLASHROM can be used from the command line, it does use CH341A as an option Good luck
I got my X99-TF bricked and with this tutorial I was able to fix it, than you Myconst!!! By the way, is there any place to learn in detail the different versions of the BIOS inside your tool? Having the CH341a here, makes me want to make some test but I would like to know what is the difference between one and another.
Mi899 has a description for every BIOS option. You can launch the app and pick the BIOS you want. Beware: multiple BIOS flash with CH341A may break the BIOS chip or its legs.
Hi Marlon, I have a laptop that is bricked. I need to get a .bin file to use with ch341a. any idea on how to convert .exe file to .bin file for flashing?
I love this guide bro! If you can explain in another video, how to install the 1.8V just in case we need to use it. So we know how to use it properly. Thanks
@@Miyconst I didn't have enough time to wait for china to send it. So I had to buy ch341a regular. I am going to be modding my laptop bios and reflashing my vega 56 tomorrow & need guidance asap. Thanks May I contact you via a community forum or discord or something for assistance with ch341a programming? You seem very smart & knowledgeable.
Awesome tutorial mate. I'll have to try it when I get my ch341a. Only on question the ch341a is 3.3v and the datasheet from the eeprom chip says it needs 1.8v so I also ordered a adapter for 1.8v but I don't know how to connect it.
9:13 Power off the power supply if you have connected it to the motherboard - If you have the BIOS chip clamped onto the CH341A, Do you remove the chip by clicking "Eject"? 9:52 - 9:54 I could not understand what you were saying? Maybe comment reply to mentioned what you said. BTW Informative video - Thanks!
9:13 If you have an option to "Safely eject" CH341A - you can do that, but in general, it's safe to just unplug it. 9:52 I just said, that there are some more features in the AsProgrammer application, but they go above the minimal usage guide.
The Surfaces from Micro Soft are seal units with no coin batteries in them. The one I have just might have a SSD that can be remove or not. Think of Surface screen that sits on top of a battery and a Mother Board. No moving parts (maybe a fan) the screen is glue down. The BIOS lock is separated from the regular password.
Thank you for the video first of all. Since I see likes to post, I'll go ahead and ask: I'm using a NeoProgrammer v2.2.0.10 but so far when I want to open the repaired BIOS Image that someone has done for me, that has access to LBE++ BIOS Extractor (dealing with an HP BIOS here), I get the error message File not open, press ok to ignore & risk data corruption or abort to kill the program. Any ideas why that happens? What going wrong? When I press ok, the cursor on the laptop I'm using (since mine is well the patient not doing so well) just does an infinite loading circle.
i watched another guide video about flashing bios with the ch341a and in the case of a soldered chip that requires the ch341a to clamp on the chip directly he said that we should remove all power connectors off the motherboard also remove the cmos battery , he said no electricity should run through the motherboard during the flashing
That's the ideal condition, but since the BIOS chip soldered on the motherboard is attached to another components, your programmer's power might be not enough to read-write the chip. Thus the extra PSU power might be required.
Hi, great video tutorial with amazing tips and helpful information, well explained easy to follow and understand. I need to try this on my Lenovo t460s, do I need to remove the cmos battery during the process or it’s just the 2 main laptop batteries inside? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have a question. Maxsun b450m challenger is supports Ryzen 7 1700 but , in product page it says it requires different bios for that . But in the official website Ryzen 1000-5000 series requires *B1* bios . I don't if it has the latest bios then I put a Ryzen 7 1700 is that going to work.
Take screenshots of the conversation with the seller and if the motherboard doesn't work with R7 1700 - demand compensation or return the motherboard. I cannot guarantee you anything, it's not me who sells the motherboard and it's not me who writes the description page. 😃
Hey mate, thanks for the video, I do have a question, I have a gigabyte motherboard and I downloaded F5 version from their website and after extracting, one of the files is a firmware image file. When I load the file in the uefitools, I don't have the option to extract the capsules, so I assume I can skip the step where I have to extract the capsule and can write the file directly into the bios?
i have a gigabyte Z97X-UD7 TH board and when I press the? button all I get is an ID FFFF error I don't see a window popup. please help. (i got full RED LED so the full power is available)
Hey got a Maxsun B650. Not sure which file to write with, in the BIOS folder I have 5 files: 3 EFI files (AfuEfix64, BootIa32, BOOTX64) - each 600KB file size 032 file - 32,000KB file size NSH File - 1KB Any ideas?
hola. intente todo y no me reconoce el chip. ademas , al conectar el programador pone el display FF y hace un pitido(ruido) muy fuerte. que podria ser? placa huananzhi x79 2.49, v3.1
I'm a bit confused? Would I be able to just disconnect power cord to pc, and press the power button multiple times to get all the juice out to then be able to clip the bios programmer on? Without the need of disconnecting the cpu?
@@Miyconst i have the same issue it says "error connecting CH341(-1)" and there is a yellow light instead of green and it seems to dim when i connect it to the bios CHIP
hello, i bricked my x99 board bios and now it wont boot, i tried following this video but multiple things happen: 1. at first the program said Error connecting CH341(-1) 2. after removing cpu it said in the console 4 parameters which were all ffff or 0000 so i kept trying and nothing happend 3. the run led on the programmer became yellow and now its yellow even when its not connected any help would be great as i am stuck with a bricked pc because of a stupid mistake i made
Hi!! I have a Sager NP9870 (Clevo P80DM-G). When I bought it, years ago, it came with just one GTX 980M. So now I bought another GTX 980M in order to make them SLI. I asked for them to send it with 1617 ID but they sent me with 13D7 ID. So I couldn’t flash it right with the vbios from the older one using Nvflash. I forced with the Nvflash mismatch version and the bios chip got really messed up. So I bought spares from the same chip (MX25L2006EZNI - 12G) and spare one from the older plate (25Q20BT) and ended up dessoldering the chip from the new one and putting a 25Q20BT in the place (with the vbios from the older one flashed inside using CH341A SPI flasher). When the new 980M arrived, the notebook didn’t even started if I put it in the master slot. Now with this modification, it goes to the windows all right but I don’t get image (not even through HDMI). So the idea here is to have both cards with the same vbios and ID in order to make them SLI. The notebook bios recognize both cards but the windows just the older one (with the 1617 ID). What can I do to make this work as SLI? I have my notebook with windows 10, both cards (the 1617 one is already inside of course), SLI cable, both heatsinks and even that cooper plate that was hard to find (I have the two necessary units). I have the CH341A SPI flasher and adapters to use the right voltage. And I have a couple units from both chips (MX25L2006EZNI - 12G and 25Q20BT. The 25Q20BT is so much easier to solder and it is the same model that the older plate uses. And I tried a lot of the drivers version from Nvidia and nothing, even cleaning with DDU. Would you help me to make it work? Appreciate it and thanks in advance. I really hope you can guide me to get there and I don’t think I’m that far away!!
@@Miyconst I tried to find information on how to make the new one have the same ID from the older one so the drivers and G sync work all right eventually. No success so far.
Hi. I have Problem with writing/programming. I have a Gigabyte ga-z87x-d3h motherboard and BIOS file is Z87XD3H.F9. Power is connected (to mainATX and to ATX(CPU)12V 2x4). XEON processor, Clock battery and ddr3-memory (4pcs) and system fans are connected to mobo, nothing else. I have read both BIOS CHIPS (it is multiBIOS MX25L6473E), reading gone fine and both chips are full of FF(empty). BUT when trying to do anything else with Asprogrammer 2.1.0.13, it did not happen: 1. Erace IC, it starting to do but never end 2. Program IC, starting to do, no progress in bar (red and yellow lights are on) No error messages, but this never ends. Can anyone help me? Problem in machine is that suddenly it sopped working. When pressing power button PSU starts and fans rolling couple of seconds. Then all stops to start again etc... I tried to reset bioses first by short-circuiting those... Thanks for this guide, it is very clear!
@@Miyconst Thank you sir. If anyone ever has a bricked bios this will always be the first video I will recommend to people. The instructions are clear and not just for one specific motherboard generation.
Bro I want to reflash the bios on my dell optiplex 9010 (i5 3rd gen) I checked online ....i found a product named USB Programmer CH341A Series 24 EEPROM Writer 25 SPI Flash BIOS Board Module USB to TTL 5V-3.3V And a SOIC8 150mel Socket + SOIC8 Clip Adapter... My question is ...will these things work on my pc....I found SOIC 200mel aswell ....which one to buy... I csn share the website link if you want
Sorry, I can't tell you what is going to work without access to your Dell. Find the BIOS chip on the motherboard, check it's model and physical dimension, then check which programmer can read/write it. Most likely CH341A can do the job for you.
I have a SZMZ X99M-G2 V1.0 bricked motherboard. The BIOS chip is KH25L12833F. I tried to recover it using CH341A and AsProgrammer. In the first time I tried, asprogrammer recognized the chip as MX25L12835F, then I tried to erase the chip content and the chip just died. Now it's not recognized anymore. I'm not able to detect, read or write. Can I use a Winbond 25Q128FVSG to replace the KH25L12833F?
Great video. Just wanted to know how to place the pins of the 16 pin motherboard to 4x2 pins set and insert in the programmer pins. Using the green chip. I want to solder the 16 pin bios chip on green chip of programmer and insert it into the programmer
I had read that you may need to perform special steps to save Mac address, serial number etc. Is that a concern? It doesn't really make sense that those would stored in the bios to me and your tutorial does not mention it
Honestly, I am not sure. I mostly use it to flash motherboard or VGA BIOS here Mac address doesn't really matter and I never paid attention to it, but if you have some creepy device, like iMac, you might need to bother about it, but I don't think so.
Hey @Myconst, i updated my Z840 with the HP Updater program, it was working allright, even i rebooted with out issue, but then i waited for a day, now it will not post, everything points to a corrupted bios, i have researched this CH341a programmer, but everyone says that it needs a driver, do you happen to have it? or with the AsProgrammer is not required?
Doesn’t matter what I do, the clip apparently just won’t properly get on the bios chip. The run led lights up but neoprogrammer always tells me that IC is not responding.
Hi bro, i have asrock b350 pro4 and i dont know which version my bios chip is 24/25? I did look at the bios chip in motherboard but it doesnt show any numbers/letters. It should be 25 right?
Yes, you definitely have 25 series, but AMD boards need 1.8V, so you can't use CH341a out of the box, you need to either modify it for 1.8V or use a special adapter.
@@Miyconst Alright then thank you for your confirmation. Also yeah i bought 1,8v adapter aswell👍 Really good video and well explained bro, thanks once again!
bro, awesome tutorial. I have surface pro 3 which is locked at boot level. cannot even go to boot setup as well. right after boot screen it asks for password. is there a way i can flash the bios without opening the surface pro?
I get different files each time I try to read the chip. The first few hundred / thousand bytes are identical, then it starts to differ and I get only blocks of 0s or Fs after the first 1/3 of the chip. What could be the problem? I'm using a clip on a soldered chip, the PC is unpowered.
